a nice, new computer with (gasp of disbelief) a flat-screen monitor is sitting at my desk in my classroom in which the air conditioning is working! Hurrah! Perhaps this is setting the tone for the whole year ... one can only hope ...

Air conditioning? Thank goodness. I think it's a step up for you. Next we should attempt to have the room painted a pretty color..or at least something other than drab gray.
