| | I made Amy's cheesy chicken enchiladas last night...not quite up to the gold standard she set on the Gatlinburg trip, but I was pretty pleased with how they came out.
Last night I watched What the Deaf Man Heard on (yep, I know, I can hear the groans!) the Hallmark channel. (Hey, if Turner Classic Movies was part of the basic cable package where I live that would be the only channel I'd ever watch...it's the absolute best. For now I have to make do with Hallmark. *Sigh* Life's rough... ). (Note to Emily: YES I AM A TOTAL SAP!!!) The movie is a couple of years old now (came out in '97) but it is wonderful...if you haven't seen it I HIGHLY recommend watching it the next time it's on. Very sweet film and tearjerker at the end (in a good way!). Frankie Muniz stars as Sammy Ayers, and then Matthew Modine takes over as an adult. This and the film My Dog Skip unequivocally prove that Frankie Muniz can act (I have some friends that don't understand why I like this guy; all I can say is watch these two films, he is absolute wrenching with the emotion and depth he invests in the roles). MDS turns me into a blubbering mess every single time I see it...it's so dang sweet (in a rip-your-heart-out, make you sob till you're exhausted kinda way, of course)!!!! It's a very emotional movie for any one who's ever had a pet make an impact on their lives...
One last thing, for now...everyone should read In Sheep's Clothing by Susan May Warren. Wonderful, fantastic, GREAT book...I just can't say enough about it. And Viktor and Gracie are so sweet!!! *Sigh* SMW is an author to watch...she takes the romantic suspense standard set by the likes of Dee Henderson & runs with it. Warning - Possible Spoiler Alert: In the letter SMW wrote at the back of ISC, she talks a bit about the inspiration for the story...in a nutshell, this was written while she and her family served as missionaries in Russia. She states that "I'll never for the day my husband came home....He told me a horrific tale of espionage and a KGB plant in the church where he'd been working," and the idea for this novel came to vivid life. Like the issues that Viktor & Gracie confront, these struggles caused SMW to question her own faith walk...and come to the conclusion that God's forgiveness isn't something that can be earned, it's a free gift, and to relinquish control and rest in the knowledge that in our times of need, Jehovah Jireh - God - will provide.
Will try to write more later...need to start a new book tonight, probably. YAY!
EDIT: Just found this...KEITH URBAN's first live concert DVD is releasing on September 27th!! Hmmm...can we say CHRISTMAS PRESENT???? Pretty please??? LOL!! |
