| | Robbie called and woke me up from a very pleasant doze this afternoon. I have to drop some stuff off at her house tomorrow, sometime before or after getting my hair cut (praise the LORD, it needs to be cut so badly) and having the oil changed in my car (2000 miles overdue, said, isn't it?). I also should probably do a little grocery shopping and buy some cat food -- the little darlings have been eating like there's no tomorrow and are about out of nuggets.
It was so cold today we actually had SNOW FLURRIES (!!!), and tomorrow I understand it's supposed to be warm and very spring-like, with temperatures in the sixties. No wonder my head hurts; yeesh the way the weather is yo-yoing around here is ridiculous.
BTW, someone please tell me why gas prices are almost up to $2.50 a gallon again when a little over a month ago they were under two bucks?! I know this is a question with no answer but nevertheless I felt compelled to ask it...*sigh*
If you've never read one of Bradley Trevor Greive's books, I highly recommend them. It's the perfect pairing of text and quirky, delightful photographs. His latest is The Simple Truth About Love, which I picked up earlier this week. Some of his other titles include The Blue Day Book, Looking for Mr. Right, Tomorrow, The Meaning of Life, and The Book For People Who Do Too Much.
Fred Astaire was a genius.
I've been on a Fred Astaire film kick lately (as well as listening to his jazz recordings non-stop). In particular, two of Astaire's MGM films are especially stellar -- The Barkleys of Broadway and The Band Wagon. The scripts of both of these films were written by Betty Comden & Adolph Green (who also wrote Singin' In the Rain).
I took a class on film musicals when I was in college -- one can blame this class on the fact that I actually analyze film musicals. I feel a blog coming on...consider yourselves warned... |
