Lots of catching up to do...

So this is my catch-up post. I know I promised a blog yesterday but Lori & I spontaneously decided to go see The White Countess since that finally came to a theater here in town. Which got me home incredibly late last night...but that's okay 'cause we had fun. More on that movie at the end of this post.

Work was NUTS today. Certain um...unexpected challenges presented themselves which were a pain to deal with. Needless to say I am glad that the weekend is almost here.

My Life as a Doormat (in Three Acts) is a fun new release from the Women of Faith fiction line by Rene Gutteridge. Here is the story summary...so far I'm really enjoying it.

Act I: Avoid conflict at all costs. Even when someone signs you up for something you really don't want to do.

Act II: Try to hold things together, even when your life is spinning out of control.

Act III: (You'll have to read the book to learn how it all plays out.)

Playwright Leah Townsend doesn't think of herself as a doormat. In fact, her life is pretty good. There's the gorgeous and dependable Edward (even if he is a little dull), and her challenging career (even if the last two plays were flops). The trouble is, Leah's feeling restless these days. The new play isn't going well. Her agent is handing out ultimatums. And her boyfriend Edward, who insists Leah "doesn't handle conflict well," has the nerve to enroll her in a conflict-management class full of people she's sure are her polar opposites, including a conservative talk-radio host named Cinco Dublin who thrives on the very thing Leah wants to avoid--making waves. Can a conflict-challenged playwright ever learn to stand her ground...even if life doesn't come in three predictable acts?

I still need to post my final review of Dee Henderson’s The Witness...I will try to do that by this weekend at the latest. I just haven’t had the chance! I need to do that – also in addition to the above novel, I am working on some other books, but more on those later as well.

I couldn’t agree with this story on figure skating costumes more…I mean seriously, what the heck were some of these people thinking?!  And as much as it offends my aesthetic sensibilities…this picture is too funny not to post…this has to be one of the most egregious examples of bad costuming (thank you, Johnny Weir-d).

Seriously...ICK!

I have to admit that I was very impressed with Sasha Cohen’s performance in the ladies’ short program last night. She has really matured as a skater in the last four years. I think it’s interesting that in this case the lead she currently holds over Slutskya is a slim one, while the judges gave Plushenko such an obvious lead for landing jumps while lacking any pretense at artistry in the men’s competition. The ladies’ long should be, I hope, a great competition. It will be interesting to see if Sasha can hold it together for a strong short and long program.

Okay...technology is irritating me this evening. I'd written the rest of my post about The White Countess in Word and the e-mail I sent to my home account hasn't come through. Grrr. So if it comes through later I'll post it, if not, it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I didn't get to watch figure skating.  I can't get NBC on my TV.  I can get CNBC, though.  Therefore, I can watch curling.

I loved the swan costume! Check out the picture on nbcolympics.com where he has his arm extended giving the swan its full effect!  Mens figure skating this year brought hideous, sparkly, feathery, etc. costumes to a whole new level!  After Johnny Weir-d (too funny by the way)  lost he said he couldn't see his aura and felt black inside.  Can we pair him and Tonya Harding in couples skating?

I never did like figure skating costumes (on the men).  It just doesn't seem right to go out in public in tights, fancy tights. that jutht theemth like thomething you do at home.   Of course on the ladies side a couple of guys on the radio this morning said that it teaches girls that its OK to put on too much make-up and a short skirt and you won't be thought of as a ho.  So I don't know......  ryc thanks for putting me at ease!  enjoy the rest of the Olympic show!
