Holy crap. Somebody's actually written lyrics to "Good Morning Voldemort" -- thanks to hopelikefeathers for bringing this to my attention.

Kaye & I went to see No Reservations after work today. LOVED it -- the film totally exceeded my expectations (which didn't expect all that much to be perfectly honest with you, LOL...anyway it's far from your typical mediocre, but cute, chick flick...it has some depth!).

I thought this movie was utterly charming. In the wrong hands it could've easily been quite depressing as much of the story is devoted to how her sister's death unexpectedly turns the life of Catherine Zeta-Jones's straight-laced chef completely upside-down -- the loner is forced to break out of her shell in order to care for the niece she unexpectedly inherits. Despite the heavy catalyst, the movie is full of warmth, humor, and hope.

Philip Glass's score was remarkable -- I loved the theme, it lends the movie a timeless quality (to borrow Kaye's phrase). Combined with a liberal dash of Pavarotti and even a Michael Buble track, the film's music has a nice "classic" feel.

Aaron Eckhart (and his character of course, LOL) is adorable. He is just an all-around nice guy here, quite refreshing to see to be honest. His opera schtick is hilarious (as are his work clothes, LOL!), and he and CZJ have a nice chemistry. Abigail Breslin is remarkable, managing to convey fragility and strength in the same breath. And absolutely no complaints about Catherine Zeta-Jones -- she's one of my favorite actresses, and I loved how she portrayed Kate's transformation into a woman who really embraces life, even the parts she can't control.

(And you've probably heard this, but I'll say it again -- don't go to this movie hungry. The food is mind-blowing!)

"No Reservations" is a remake of a French film. I forget the title, but Jonathan and I rented it from Blockbuster a few months ago and really enjoyed it. I'm not too eager to watch this remake because I'm not a fan of remakes. I'd be curious, though, to hear what you think of the French film since watching this remake.
