Currently Watching

Shadow of a Doubt -- I have to say this is one of my favorite Alfred Hitchcock movies. Joseph Cotten is deliciously creepy in it.  Also watched The Trouble with Harry for the first time this week...quirky, oddly funny movie that reveals Hitchcock's wonderfully warped sense of humor. Also features Jerry Mathers in an absolutely adorable pre-Leave It to Beaver turn as Shirley MacLaine's young son. Too cute!!! -- especially when he finds the dead body. LOL

Let's see, my favorite Hitchcock films would be (in no particular order):

And lots of honorable mentions of course...

Didn't get much accomplished today...probably because I've been so dang tired. Thursday I got to work late because it took almost an hour to get in due to some supposed wreck that I never saw any sign of on the interstate. *sigh* So I got to work at seven and didn't leave till almost five thirty...this after over four hours of vendor meetings. THEN it was time for another hour and a half in the car, this time due to two more wrecks. *banging head against dash now* I was ready to cry or collapse by the time I got home (collapsing came first, LOL).

Friday I left early and got to work early (thank God for such miracles). Over five hours of meetings later I finally managed to leave work after attending to only the absolute essentials. There's a to-do list a mile long and the thought of seeing my e-mail inbox Monday morning gives me the shudders, but I think I've recovered sufficiently to face it head-on. LOL

In between there Dad and I finally got an update from Mom about g'mother. After the surgery she had to have last Friday she had to be on a ventilator which she was finally taken off of Wednesday (I think). She's kinda been in and out of lucidity and her pain level is extraordinarily high. The surgeon wants her kept in cardiac ICU at least another week which means they have to have another, permanent nursing home facility lined up...and as far as I know they haven't done that yet. Thanks for the prayers.

So anyway I was too brain-tired to want to do much of anything on my birthday yesterday. Thanks for the birthday wishes BTW! I spent a good chunk of the evening on the phone with Courtney, Terra, and Leah...thanks for calling girls, I LOVED catching up (especially with you out-of-staters, haha).

Biggest and most important thing I accomplished today (besides getting some laundry done and taking a looonnnggg afternoon nap...hence the reason I am still up and WIDE AWAKE) was getting my hair cut (hallelujah!!). I was feeling way too shaggy for comfort, haha. My fall allergies have kicked in with a vengeance this week...the sneezing and watery eyes were really bad Monday and Tuesday, then I was okay for a few days and this morning they just wouldn't let up. I love the fall I just hate transition allergies...dust, mold, ragweed, etc. Not fun.

Random cat note: Pepper's appetite has really picked up since he got his allergy shot at the vet's on Wednesday. Happy about that...

I think after church tomorrow I'm going to go do a bit of clothes shopping...

I have a TON, a veritable TON I tell you, of reading to catch up on...especially since I got three books from Shane and two from Rachel on Friday to add to my enormous TBR stack. I have GOT to make some headway on the book front this week.

More later...

Biscuit our skinny cat has allergies. We experimented with that pine litter which is lighter. He sneezed poor thing. So we went back to the heavy stuff. He needs another shot but getting my sister to get him there is the problem. They are her cats and he is the skittish one so I cannot take him. But happily they are inside cats. :) Are you working on your list for the Fall Reading Challenge? I want to see what you will be reading. It has been so interesting going to the different blogs that have signed up and seeing their lists. I have already added at least two to my own. I may not make it...

Rear Window is pretty much amazing!

Yes, it's got the lovely Matthew Macfadyen.  It was really, really funny.
