Cause I wonder sometimes
About the outcome
Of a still verdictless life

Been doing a lot of wondering lately. Wrestling with job applications for next summer. Thoughts of the future bring uncomfortable questions. Decisions need to be made.

Right now I'm coping about as you would expect. Stress, Spreadsheet, and Shotgun applications. In the last few weeks I've investigated over three hundred employers, and applied for nearly fifty jobs. And yet a plan would be nice . . .

Still "everything happens for a reason"

Hmmm, do you need a plan? Beseech the Lord for the plans that he has for you!

My professors used to play the "What do you want to be doing in 10, 5, 1 year(s) from now?" game to help students crystallize goals, then set plans accordingly. "Prepare plans by consultation, And make war by wise guidance." (Prov 20:18) Of course, new plans aren't always fun. . .

Sometimes, no matter how well I know what I want to do in five years and what i need to do to get there, I still can't figure out why I am where I am.

In that situation, I've learned that it's best to simply do the next thing. Pay the bills. Go to work. Follow the normal routine and give the future to God. Even if you don't know what to do next, God knows.

I can totally identify with that cartoon... very timely. It brought Proverbs 16:9 to mind: "The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps." Keep seeking Him, and your path will be established (that's a promise ). And I'm speaking to myself also...
