  • Thank You!

    Thank You - THANK YOU!!
Thank you for all your help on pre-race and during race food.  I tried some oatmeal w/ a little peanut butter before my long run (10.3 Miles) on Sat.  It went well.  My stomach felt pretty good. I tried some dove Dark Chocolate squares on the run,  They were okay, not great, but not to bad either.  I think I am going to try dark chocolate chips, easier to chew.

I Don't Know if You are dealing with it, but I am sick to death of the wind!
Not only has this winter been colder, but it seems the wind is always blowing!!  Saturday I had a 15-20 MPH wind in my face for three of the ten.  It really stunk.  It seems like every run I have, it is in at least 10 mph.  It really stinks when I am running intervals into the wind.  I try to run them with the wind, but sometimes it does not work.

    Question of the Day:
I want to know, which you think is better.
    - A hot shower after a cold run or a cold shower after a hot run?
    I can't decide!

    Keep Pressin' On!!

If there is a correct medical answer, I don't know. Great job on the running.

I would think what would be better is a hot (warm?) shower after a cold run to help warm your body up.  Of course, it might not feel so well because if you've been running you're already warm.

I wouldn't get out in cold wind. period.  So, what is more likely to happen for me, is a cool shower after a hot WALK/JOG. ha!

Definitely a hot shower after a cold run... I tend to cool off pretty quickly after a hot run (when the sweat dries) and still end up taking a warm shower.  And it feels great on the muscles.

I'm not sure when I'm moving yet.  I still don't have a steady job (just odd ones and a steady part time job that I've had for the last 3 years).  I need to get a decent cushion before I move out there, because I'm not going to bother looking for work until I get in the city.  Tenatively though, 3 months or so.  Shooting for July-ish when the weather really starts to get sucky in the midwest.  :)

Nice run, glad the oatmeal seemed to work fine for you!

oh, and another thing: I've definitely lost fat/gained muscle.  Clothes are fitting looser and there's a huge difference in my body already after 5 weeks, which is why I'm not worried about the number so much.  I wasn't overweight, but always room for improvement, you know!
