Last Tuesday I took my daughter to the Bulls game, they played (and beat) the Celtics. It was the first time she'd ever been to the United Center. When we got there I took her around to the east side of the stadium to see the Jordan statue. We had a great time at the game even though we didn't have the greatest seats (upper level behind one of the baskets). Both teams were wearing green so it was kind of an odd game to watch. It was the first time we had gone to a sporting event by ourselves since she was 4 (she's 13 now). I still have a picture, of her sitting there in her White Sox cap holding baseball glove up in the air looking to catch a foul ball, up in my office. She used to sit like that the entire game. I didn't realize how much I missed those moments until last Tuesday.
I took vacation the rest of the week (Wed thru Fri) in order to attend a conference at my church. It was a Children's Ministry conference in which over 3100 people attended from 16 different countries and since I volunteer there weekly with the two year olds I got to go for free. Beside attending, I also presented at a couple of sessions. Overall it was fun and it energized my soul, which is a good thing because chessgirl really needed me Saturday night, and for once I came through with flying colors.
On Saturday, we went bowling for my sister-in-laws birthday. I had the best game of my life and bowled a 153. I am seriously considering retiring from bowling after that one. I started off Sunday with my usual volunteering at church. We had over 100 two year olds at the 9 am. service which sounds overwhelming but really wasn't that bad. I attended the 11:15 service which about not avoiding people just because of their reputation, but to be loving and a friend to everyone as Jesus was while he was one earth (which is something I struggle with a lot). It really kind of cool since they incorporated the nickelback video "savin' me" into the message. I had never seen it before but it is really cool.
