| | So how many out there have started a new career after over a decade in another one? Any tips on how to think it through?
I started as a corporate editor and ran a business with a technical-writing partner for many years. I even did a short stint as president of a national editors' professional organization. For various reasons, I find myself at the end of my interest in that career, and I've been looking for another one.
Novelist? Hmm... not very practical, but I'll probably try it anyway. Travel agent? Realtor? Lawyer? (Law clerk?) Bartender? Property manager? Ooo, not that one, it'll involve budgeting and I'm virtually innumerate. Very literate though! Cute pop starlet? Oh oh, too old for that one! Teacher?
You can see I'm having fun with this. My last career had its ups and downs, that's for sure. I want to really enjoy my next one!
Now if I can just get over my suspicion that my future involves sitting in classrooms with outspoken teenagers...
