| | 7. Start projects instantly!
The day an assignment is received is the ideal day to spend a couple of
hours digging into it. First, you will reduce your anxiety about it by
taking its measure right away. You won’t feel it is hanging over you
like some kind of ominous cloud (is that a mushroom shape?!). Then, if
you see that it is going to be prickly, you can schedule more time for
it, or go to see the professor about it, and you’ll be able to take
remedial action before the deadline overtakes you.
Every now and
then go away and have a little relaxation. To remain constantly at work
will diminish your judgment. Go some distance away, because work will
be in perspective and a lack of harmony is more readily seen. – Leonardo da Vinci
An early start will also make it possible for you to follow Leonardo’s
wise advice. Final proofreading is much more effective if you have
partially forgotten what you wrote by the time you take that last look.
Late-breaking news: Mature students can
pull all-nighters! Yep, I thought I’d be too old for that! Nope, it can
be done! But why would you do that to yourself? Let’s just say it’s not
fun. Stay up late the first week that an essay has been assigned, not
the last week.
One day I’ll really get on top of this last bit of advice myself. Really, I will! Absolutely.

Enjoy your weekend, all! 'Specially the moms.
