  • Mucus Monster

I haven't been able to return many comments yesterday or today...but I thank you for them, and I have been reading them.

DD #2, Marisa, has been sick. For about two weeks now she's been coughing and hacking. The last couple of days have been particularly bad for her. I knew this stuff wasn't going to clear up on it's own without some medical intervention. We went to the doctor's today. The Dx: Asthmatic Bronchitis. She's loaded up on meds now...antibiotic, cough syrup, and an inhaler. It's too soon for her to be feeling much better, and her mucus is out of control. I call her my little mucus monster. She's not amused. Well, neither am I. I am the one who has to clean up after her. I know, it goes with the mom territory. It's just that some stuff about being a mom is totally gross. This is some of that stuff.

Hopefully she'll feel better soon. I hate to see her so miserable.

The good news is that I've been well all fall and winter. That is a new lifetime record for me. I'm tellin' ya, there is something to the low-carb lifestyle and the benefits for health. That's the only thing I can really attribute my good health to, because Lord knows the kids have been sick off and on several times since the end of last year.

How many times have you been ill since fall?

Results night tonight on American Idol! I'll be back after the show with my reaction...

    The bottom 3...

    Sayesha, Kristy, and David H.

    Voted off...

    David Hernandez

I'm not entirely shocked, but I still thought he was better than Kristy Lee Cook. Oh well. I hope David H. can continue persuing his dreams.

My 2 year old is sick now too. Not bad, but has a snotty nose that irks me.

And I took one of your themes. I LOVE it!

I've been lucky enough not to get the funk that everyone else has had lately.  Though I'm not sure how I've missed it.

I finally succumbed to a minor cough with a low grade fever Sunday night.  That's it.  Our son had an ear ache and in the early fall he had a MRSA scare.  It turned out to be MSSA that he probably picked up from the footbal locker room.  Thank God!

So I'm pleased with our sick levels.

suffering first cough and cold now.............now that the weather is warming back up...........

and I agree with you about the low-carb lifestyle benefitting the immune system

Soup for You (hope you feel better...)

The sniper has been struggling with the same thing.  It's frustrating for her as I'm sure it is for DD2.

My strength is as the strength of 10

You let M know that I shelled out 75 credits for this soup for her!  That's some serious coinage, but I'd easily spend 2  or 3 times that for her well-being.  You gonna tell me that ain't love??

  • bronxbombette

I had the same thing but not bronchitis! I'm still full of mucus after my meds- missed a week of school. I've been sick a couple of times, nothing as bad as the vomit monster bug that almost canceled school i had earlier! hope she is feeling better!

I was sick from October to the end of January... It was not fun...

I'm glad your feeling so good.

I'm looking forward to Idol... I am thinking the chic who sang the country song is going... and David Hernandez? Is going... That's my guess.

  • CuriousGeorgina

Oh dear, I've been sick about three times... maybe four! I seem to get sick whenever I'm at a party with some friends who have brought their children. I've become very cautious and wash my hands all the time... but winter has never been good to me, and I especially tend to get coughs and chest colds. Maybe I ought to try that low-carb thing! :ssgoofywink:

WOW.....you should have got her the meds a few days earlier.....poor snotty kid....kidding.....has to be a tough one for her....and you could have to clean up puke......

Thanks for the props on the kitchen.....took a lot of Bear effort to get it done,,,,,,,

I have not been sick all winter unless you take into account my surgery and me being out of work since Jan 10th....but I should be back at it by the 24th of this month...

    Have a great Thursday....

  • CynaraJane

@GrumpyBear54 - Well, the thing is that the mucus isn't exactly coming out of her nose...it's in her lungs and she's coughing it up...and yes, sometimes she hurls. So, yeah...:ssboohoo:

  • AcidSam

    arrgghhh . . . the phlegm . . . the coughing . . . the sore stomach muscles . . . poor DD#2.
Gee, I've been not well (not necessarily sick)  only one time since Fall . . . the entire month of February!!
Glad you've set a new record . . . so good to feel well . . . how easily and quickly we take health for granted.

  • seedsower

I hope she feels better soon! I am so glad that you have been well,I remember last year!

I havent been sick with a cold ...thank God!

  • MsCatbert2You

AI - I called it exactly this time

  • RdKingClassic03

Twice, just before Thanksgiving, and about a month later...........other than that, just fine.....

  • Xcholo4u

Once, but I waited it out. I got better in a week. I hope your daughter feels better. Maybe the mucus monster will be merciful.

  • AliasUndercover

Personally, I won't miss David H at all.  I never believed any of his performances.  Marcus thought his voice was great and KNEW that Kristy was the one going.  He won't be correct until the very next week though.

  • fratmom

The mucus conversation isn't too bad considering I just got off a site where we discussed poop.

  • bluemarsupial

Damn it. I had DVR'd Idol and was going to watch it tonight, then I stumbled on this. Thats it, a thousand wacks with a wet noodle for you. :ssbigfrown:

  • eCraig

I hope the med is kicking in. Tell Miss Mucous Monster I hope she is feeling better quickly, and that her Grandpa loves her.

I have been well all winter, too.  Now .. watch me catch a cold.
  • CynaraJane

@eCraig - I'll tell her when she wakes up. She's one sick li'l puppy right now, and still a mucus monster. Oh, and I thought the same thing about bragging that I haven't been sick...but I've been knocking on wood a lot since I made that statement, so I should be okie-dokie now! :sswink:
