Image taken in front of a now-closed coffee-shop / restaurant around the Johns Hopkins University campus.
I remember going to this place quite a few times during my JHU Undergraduate career. It was the backdrop for a lot of big events... and now it's closed. This is reminiscent of how I felt when my high school, back in San Diego, was closed and incorporated with a different school across the county. I felt almost as if a piece of my past had been taken away from me. I will never be able to take my future wife and kids to visit and tour some areas that meant a lot to me.
The past, as
Susan so eloquently put it, becomes just a row of pawns instantly cleared out like it never existed.
What parts of your past have been eroded?

Looks good Will...kinda like a row of pawns on a chess board.
Yeah, like this gas station by my high school that was always always there since I could remember.. elementary school days. I drove passed it today and it's gone! Instantly cleaned out like it was never there ever before! Weird...
I like the photo though. It does look like a row of pawns. Very nicely done. :)
"I will never be able to take my future wife and kids to visit and tour some areas that meant a lot to me." That is true; however, you and your wife n kids will make some places for your grandkids to go back n take a visit.
Yeah, I know that something in the past is always worthy remembering and going back to look at again sometimes.
The people, places and things that can be so easily taken away from us physically, can never be taken away from our memories and from our hearts.
And while some have a hard time holding onto the past, others have a hard time letting go.
Checkmate.
My elementary school is now a part time Korean Church and a Christian (or something) elementary school, haha. *laughs* I don't mind. I hate everything about my past. If everything in the past went away, I wouldn't care. I wouldn't be any more happier, but it wouldn't bother me. =P
I thought the same thing as Vietprince1. Looks like a row of pawns. =] Clever.
this is really nice...i want ur lens! =/
and possibly ur camera too lol
hey hey hey thats not very nice ;)
Great shot, Will!! I really love the sharpness on that lens. Perhaps it could be my next big buy. 70-200 or PS3?
wow I love it...
seems like everything in my past is becoming eroded...but I guess I have nothing but to just accept it
Nice pix Will!
And no, no you don't want snow...
Great shot. Reminds me of the old buildings here that carry the history of this area. To many old buildings are not being maintained and are falling apart and being torn down. Such a shame.
Nice shot!
Ya know that aperture ring turns past F/4 :) F/16 says she's feeling lonely.
BobaSmash is a great photographer!!
is that a drawing of a face on the first pawn?
hahaha. i always thought xandos was overrated. it is kinda wierd it closed though. but not surprised with starbucks and all opening.
Thanks for commenting! I really need help on taking photos, hopefully you can give me any advice that you think will help!
aww.. xando's closed? heh, i guess i sorta supported that by going to starbucks every day i was there... what are they turning the space into?
Wait, which coffee shop is this? OneWorld? Sams Bagel?
awesome pic - i like all the different textures! btw, i answered your question about the actions on my xanga.
wow.. this post touched me. ..
I'm going to save this pic on my desktop... who knows, it may become my xanga image...
if it does, I'll definitely tell you.
Good one Will!
