what would you do??

Let's say you were out and about...doin your daily grind. While youre doin your thing do you look straight ahead or do you tend to look towards the ground more?? Im thinkin it may depend on what area your from,not just a personality trait. Ive noticed that when I was younger I always would walk looking straight ahead. The head is held high and theres always a smile(well almost always)..this wasnt that long ago. Ill say around the ages of 15-17. Ok well now that I do the math,that is awhile ago Anyways...Ive noticed over the years that my line of sight isnt always directed straight ahead anymore. As a matter of fact more often then not its looking away or down. Why is this?? I mean Im the same person I was back then. I still get a kick out of the same things(although I may not have the energy to do them like I used to)I like to have fun.. etc. Have I turned so cold that I dont want to so much as look a passerby in the eyes while I walk passed them....or stand in a line in front of them at a store. I could be sitting at a red light and unless something draws my attention I wont even turn my head. Perhaps its the environment Im in. Does it make a difference if you're from a more rural part or an inner city?? It could...Ive lived in a major metropolitan area most of my life. I have also lived in my share of suburbs. People in the innercity are more cautious,always have the guard up. I mean you have too,especially in this day n age,shit happens! You never know who's creepin up along side of you..and the fact that there are so many diverse people and beliefs in such a compact area makes for some daily tension. You always expect the unexpected. Ive lived in the neighborhood Im in for the last 16-17 years(give or take a few months)and my grandmother lived here since the day I was born...so Ive seen many changes. Ive literally watched little punks from 6-7 yrs ago grow up and actually have kids of their own. Ive watched their attitudes change from asshole to concerned. Ive watched a once beautiful neighborhood go to the shitter. It used to be that you could go out and have a friendly little chat with all your neighbors,now the only time you see them is when theres some shit goin down on your street. Its been a running joke around here that if you want to see your neighbors...then stick a guy in a house with a gun,or start a 4 alarm fire. I think its sad,yet I am guilty of the same thing....being somewhat anti-social. Xanga is a perfect escape...meaning,at least for me,I can talk to any and everyone. I'm gonna keep it real here...although I have come to like so many people here on Xanga in all honesty if I were to run into all of you's at a bar or a store or sometime throughout my daily grind I probably wouldnt even so much as look or talk to 80% of you. Not because Im a bitch,but because thats just how Ive become.Granted,I know,alot of this would be based on first impression but Im just speaking in general. I mean this would involve me having to let down my guard. So this is the question that I pose.....
Lets say you ran into all the people on your SIR list(on Xanga)yet you didnt know they were who they were...would you be just as open and social as you are here?? Be honest now,afterall its only a question.

Maybe its society...maybe it's me. Could be circumstance...one things for sure,it seems to be a growing trend.

Good question Janet.  I don't know if I'd be as social if I didn't know the people on my SIR list if I came across them.  Neither would they, I don't think.  But, once we met, and talked, yes, I'd say it'd be nice.  We are open and social on Xanga because we feel that we know the people we read, and feel friendly towards them, and actually like them.

Hmmmm...I think basically I would be the same, perhaps not as open as I was not so long ago, but still I tend to be fairly open. Now part of that would also depend on the other person's reaction...if I smile and say hi, and get looked at like I'm pond scum, I shut up fairly fast...LOL
As far as the eye contact thing, I tend to look around too, it's how I've always been.

I would be just as friendly, yes, and concerned, and I would listen patiently and with every bit as much concern to their problems...  but no, I would probably be less open about myself (not that I am an open book by ANY stretch of the imagination)...

It depends where I am. Here in Vail I look people in the eye and say hello, and even how are you? Sometimes. In Los Angeles I mind my own business, lived there a long time. In Oregon, if i had my Burger King uniform on I would say hello and answer all their silly questions, if not then i was usually in my car.

Huggggssssssss No worries,
Kazzy

I am actually the same I am here in real life. I am concerned about other people's needs, I do care about what is going on around me and I always look into other people's eyes! Maybe I am even more talkative in real life... And yes, I would probably treat everyone of my SIR list the same way I am treating them here. Maybe just that I am not looking enough after myself in real life...  and {{{Hugs}}}
