  • According to my last post it seems we have now had Charlie for two years.  I think it's time for an update.  I got some knock-you-out drugs for her from the kitty doctor.  That's right she'll be traveling inside the people cabin of the airplane with us for Thanksgiving.  That should be exciting.  At least our flight is non-stop.  In actuality she has become a bit of a happy lap cat.  She'll curl up on us for hours if we let here, at least when it is cold.  The first time she did it I was really worried, I thought she was sick or something.  Nope, just turning over a new leaf.  I think she likes living in California.  There's lots of good exploring here for her -- and for us!erincharlie crop erin rocks crop

Speaking of exploring, Lake Tahoe is one of the most fabulous places around.  If you ever have the chance, go.  And it does not matter what time of year.  For more photos go to jonanderin.shutterfly.com.

It's true, Jon and I have adopted a baby and her name is Charley.  She is the cutest, softest, most cuddly, distructo, spaz, fighting machine you ever did see.  She has two gears:  ON and off.  Sommer brought her over last week and we love her, she constantly makes us laugh.  The first night she tried to suckle on Jon's nipple!  Where is the camera when you need it.

The air conditioner in our apartment is broken so we have all been miserable. The heat and humidity have been ridiculous and all we could do is lie around and not move.  Surprisingly enough that went for the kitty to.  It was like she suddenly had no personality.  Well, after the cold front came through yesterday afternoon she was back -- 10 fold!  For literally hours last night she was running around bouncing off the walls!  How can something so little reek so much havoc?  It's a wonder really.  Nonetheless, she is awesome and we love having her.  I think she is more like a dog than a cat in a lot of ways.  She greats us at the door when we come home, she always wants to be in the middle of everything and know what is going on, she loves being loved on.  Fun times.  Thanks Sommer.

I have a new car!  Well, new to me.  My grandpa decided he was ready for a new California car (they split their time between TX & CA) and he offered the old one to me.  It's not my dream car, but it was free so you won't hear me complaining.  It's a '99 Chevy Lumina, 4door, light tan color, power everything and . . . for the first time ever in a car for me . . . cup holders and a CD player!  And the best part of all 13,500 miles.  It's six years old and practically just been driven off the lot.  Perfect timing too, my old car wasn't doing so well.

Hurricane Rita brought me a "new" bike which I have in turn named Rita.  Friday morning Jon and I were riding bikes around the neighborhood and someone was throwing away this super cute old Murry bike so we went home, got my parents truck and picked it up.  Good thing too, cleaning it up gave Jon something to do while we waited for not-so-ferocious Rita to arrive.

The other fun thing that came out of bike riding was finding the only open business around -- the liquor store!  They were pretty picked over, but we managed to grab a 6er of Blue Moon.  (BTW, thanks to whoever brought that to the Xanga party, cause that is a tasty brew and I never would have known.)  Jon and I were all proud of ourselves when we got back to the house and announced to Mom and Dad and Amy and Shaun that we had secured more beer!  Alcohol is very important in times like these.

Now it's all over and we don't even have a limb in our yard to show for it.  (Our neighbor did though.)  The other good thing is my apartment-of-questionable-construction didn't fall down.  Yippee, I still have a place to live!

I hope the next time a big hurricane takes aim at us, people still take it seriously.  Houston got lucky this time.

We've been kayaking a bit lately. We went to Huntsville State Park the other day with alligators all around. It was great fun.  I've come to the conclusion that kayaking is something I really like to do.  Also, Colorado was amazing.  We rented a car and put 3,029 miles on it.  Mountains are simply spectacular, it was tough to come home.

I finally saw Adaptation. What a fantastic movie!
