George Bush Is A Moron, But For Entirely Different Reasons Than The Ones You've Been Told

I love the Washington Post!  It's awesome!  They have a story relating to an e-mail forward I just got, which is supposedly George Bush explaining the Medicare bill:

Bush Explains Medicare Drug Bill -- Verbatim Quote Submitted on 2005-12-13 16:35:14

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: "I don't really understand. How is the new plan going to fix the problem?"

Verbatim response ~ PRESIDENT BUSH: "Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red."

Okay, so here's what's funny, the Washington Post repeats this exhange, saying, "This new liberal smear is grossly unfair and inaccurate."  But why, pray tell?  Is it something Bush actually said?

Well...actually, umm..... they begrudgingly admit "the exchange itself comes directly from a White House transcript."   Oops.  The liberals are smearing George Bush with a big, hot steaming pile of his own words!

Yeah, he totally said it, only the Washingon Post says it's a smear and unfair because it was waaaaay back last February 2005, in reference to Bush's Social "Security" "Plan".  Not Medicare, but Social SecurityWhich is totally different, right?!?!?!  Because NOW his answer makes sense....oh, wait, no, I'm wrong - it's still a fucking stupid answer

*For my gym update, I went to David Barton Gym again last night.  I kept my eyes peeled for the sort of shenagins the New York Post warned me against, but I swear I didn't see anything untoward at all.  I did, however, see muscley munchkin David Barton, the functional-but-not-as-famous-Amanda's-vagina Sofia Lamar, super DJ Johnny Dynell, and the self-declared "world's most famous transsexual with a fully functional vagina," Amanda Lepore.  So that was neat, but the reason I saw them was because I was using an elliptical trainer near the entrance, because all the machines that I actually wanted to use were full of guys - big, sexy black guys.  So I'm not going to switch gyms after all.   To walk several blocks out of my way to not get to use the machines I want to is kind of annoying.  But I can report that Amanda looked fantastic....

That is all.

The only part of his ramble that was possibly misrepresented was this sentence, which could have been transcribed wrong: "the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases".  This one sentence fragment, and only this one, would have been an actual coherent thought if it was worded this way, "the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases". Since the rest of the blather makes no sense, I guess it's appropriate that the one thought that would have been expressed coherently was transcribed wrong. But, then again, maybe the transcriber got it exactly as the turd said it and I'm just giving him too much credit by surmising that he almost had a legitimate sentence within what sounds like the mumblings of a crack addict in a drugged-out haze (e.g. Whitney Houston).

I accidentally posted this under the wrong screen name (just give me some cake and shiny things):

hehe, bush is always good for laughs, although of a different sort than the laughs you get from toilet humor.  although both are kinda nervous and embarassed, the bathroom jokes have less of an end-of-western-civilization feel about them.

I've been totally thinking that the transcriber got it right, but Georgie mispoke to begin with  - but I guess I shouldn't misunderestimate him that way.  You know, it's hard work bein' the prezzident and putting food on your family!

Reading that makes my corpus callosum hurt, much like Lisa's bad dancing makes my feet sad.
