I've bought a bunch of presents and though in past years I just called them "Christmas presents" and given them at that time, I thought I would bow to the "religion" of my "spouse" and try to fit them into his "beliefs," resulting in the following illuminating conversation:
D: What day do I give you the presents for Hanukkah - the first day or the last day, or...?
E: You give one every day for eight days. I think the first day is Saturday.
D: Okay, well, how many presents is your mother giving you?
E: One.
D: And what day might it be that she would give you that present?
E: Whenever I see her.
So, needless to say, someone isn't getting any Hanukkah presents. I'm re-dubbing them Winter Solstice presents, and giving all seven of them at once on December 22nd. For spite.
I'd also like to add that Hanukkah begins Friday at sundown, and that's when he's supposed to get a present - I've since looked it up. For spite. |
