SUNNY DAYS -- vacation!!

*BIG SIGH* Another stressful inventory date has been completed and as of now, I am offically on vacation for the next ten days! Yippee skippee!
It was a mad dash to get it all done in time, but I am so glad to get to leave work for a few days. I think I should arrange to take vacation every time following the event.
I have so much happening right now though. My little sister and my niece will be coming to visit us for a few days and I always love that. We got to see each other in April and so to get to see her again in July is a treat. Also Nicoles boyfriend will be arriving tomorrow as well. He will be spending a month with her and they are both looking forward to seeing each other. They don't get a lot of time together. They were on different ships working and now that they have both finished up their contracts they are officially done with Celebrity Cruise Lines for the time being. He will be here for one month and then it is off to Merry England (where he lives) until the Christmas holidays when he will try to make it back to the states again. They are working on getting him a visa to be here in the United States.

This is Callum--rumor has it that it looks serious! We are happy to get to see him for the month that he will be here as we really haven't had a chance to get to know him that much. We did get to meet him in May when we met his ship that docked in Seattle. It was a good visit and he seems to be a great guy. We are happy for Nicole. Only issue is he lives in England and we hope that he can get his visa to stay here in the United States. I don't want my daughter going off to England to live far, far away from me...

So the next few days are going to be filled with family, friends and love in the air!!
Will check in and keep in touch with ya' all--- Ciao Baby!!!

How much are you affected by what people say about you?
Some days it depends on how thick my skin is on that particular day...it either sinks into and grabs hold of me and has the potential to ruin my day, or I can pull out the thick scaley skin and thwart all arrows shot at it with the ease of a master athelete....one never knows which skin suit is gonna appear at that moment, I believe in spontaneous decisions...
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

Keep Your Fork...
found this on my friend Quiets blog, who got it from her friends blog. It seemed worthy of needing to share this tidbit with many others....
There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things 'in order,' she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.
Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. 'There's one more thing,' she said excitedly. 'What's that?' came the Pastor's reply. 'This is very important,' the young woman continued. 'I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.' The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say. 'That surprises you, doesn't it?' the young woman asked. 'Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request,' said the Pastor.
The young woman explained. 'My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, "Keep your fork." It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming...like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!' So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder 'What's with the fork?' Then I want you to tell them: “Keep your fork for the best is yet to come"
The Pastor's eyes we filled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.
At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, 'What's with the fork?' And over and over he smiled.
During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right.
So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come.
Cherish what time you have and the memories you are making every day. And always remember to keep your fork.

Life in the FAST lane
My goodness...I need a 6 lane Freeway to accomodate all that I have going on at any one time! At this time it would be due to my beloved daughter being home.
on Wednesday we went out looking for an apartment for her. As you might have read, that was somewhat of a shock and a frustrating event. Not to be daunted, we forged on and the place that we thought would have been snatched up for sure before we had a chance, was the place that she ended up getting into. Who knew that it would all come together so fast. She inquired on Wednesday, turned in her info application on Thursday, had the credit check on Friday, approved on Saturday and handed the keys...which brings us to Sunday, her 27th birthday which we spent MOVING boxes upon boxes and three years of furniture held in the storage unit! Sheesh...what a way to spend your birthday huh?
She had me painting an armoire that was not a satisfactory color, assembling kitchen chairs we bought two years ago and never assembled, and on and on. With Ron's broken arm, he tried to help out with what he could. It was an exhausting day.
We did manage to fit in going to "early" service at church and decided I kind of liked going that early in the summer months. We also took a break and at 4:00 pm went to a family celebration for her birthday at her grandmothers with family. That was a nice break. She only has a few small windows of time to get moved in with her busy work schedule, my schedule and her second job so Sunday was the only full day she would have for the next 10 days to make this move....we were not prepared to do have this happen so soon. Nothing was packed and we had no boxes. Thank goodness for all the heavy drinkers out there! We were able to find a treasure trove of boxes at the liquor store. The grocery stores had none to give us.
I have also been doing 20 million piles of paperwork that has needed to get done. My tv room looks a giant desk with files spread out all over the floor. I got side tracked while doing it and had to stop everything to go into "move" mode and now today, I have tried to get back to this paperwork and find that I am confused and lost as to where I was at! NUTs...
Work called me and asked me to come in for a mere 4 hours last night as "company" was expected by 9 am for inspections and we needed to all pitch in and make it look good...so I left Nicoles apartment at 10:30 pm and headed off to work where i spent the next 4 hours doing more moving and cleaning....I got out of there at 3:00 am and today...I am trying to decompress...look at the paperwork, be domestic goddess and get the laundry done, and somewhere in there...there is always the big burning question....WHATS FOR DINNER??

My blinker is on as I am making a move across 5 lanes of moving traffic into the EXPRESS lanes!!

Some place to call "Home"...
Yesterday Nicole and went searching for an apartment for her. What a shock it was! Both in sticker and size, and quality! My head is spinning from all the places we looked at and the shock we had of what is out there in her price range....We must have made at least 20 phone calls, and yet not one single propety manager called us back! They don't have to, the places rent themselves out in record time and no one needs to hustle to rent them out. We have to hustle to be a "renter" however! I felt like we were in a race for time. Literally! We saw them listed on Craigslist in the morning before we left the house, and some of them were rented before we even got a chance to see them! Snapped up just that fast! NUTS...

Honestly...the places that people rent out are crazy! One looked really cute inside, cleaned and newly painted, but the courtyard area looked as though you might be conducting your crack purchases in the dawn of evening....a bit scarey. Another cute Mother in law unit boasted wonderful appointments, however she did ask if Nicole liked to cook? Her reply, "well, I can cook" (Nicole is not a cook by any means, but can boil water) The Landlady's response...."there is a nice refridgerator, and a George Forman grill"....WHAT the heck??
No stove or oven to use...what does this lady think anyone is going to for eating??? Eat out all the time? We felt for $975.00 a month there should at least be a stove!Another place had a kitchen the size of 7 ft long by 4 feet wide! I kid you not...Literally two people cannot be in the kitchen strip at the same time! Stove and Fridge were tiny little mini sizes....sigh....

Needless to say, we are still looking. We did find one and she has an inquiry out there to get it, but we are not that hopeful as it was later in our day and we felt certain that we could have been beat out by someone else we knew was also offering. We'll see later today if we had any success.
One thing for certain, none of these places had any Closet space!!!! The child is going to need to continue to keep MOST of her shoes and her clothing at home and keep changing out stuff as the seasons hit. Thank goodness for mom and dad's place!
