pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I
hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land".2Ch 7:14
"For thou, Lord, [art] good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee." Psa 86:5
"And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his
brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the
least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Jer 31:34
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1Jo 1:9
One of my residents came to me tonight in tears....I listened patiently
for a while and let her talk everything out. Eventually we got to some
pretty upsetting stuff, and it was obvious to me that not only was she
in bonds but she was overwhelmed with guilt and thus could not believe
that Christ could possibly forgive her. I won't go into great detail,
but when it came time to talk...I knew what to say(praise God!!!). I
asked her if I could talk for a couple of minutes...and once permission
was gained I opened with prayer...what happened next was amazing.
I told her that she needed to forgive herself first, that the devil was
binding her and as a child of God he had no right. I told her what the
scripture has to say about God's forgiveness...and how she no longer
had to live in guilt. Repentance means to turn away, and she had long
ago turned from that sin. I told her that know one was perfect but that
God is faithful and just to forgive us. I was so grateful that she had
come to me and I can only pray that what I said had some effect. As I
talked she looked at me sideways...and I could see the speculation and
doubt in her eye's the upside down star from her masonic faith dangled
around her neck and it was all I could do to keep from crying. I know
she believes in God, and that Christ died on the cross for her sin's,
she claims that Masons are just like other Christians...and so, I ask
now that you, my friends, and family in Christ, would pray for this
resident. That the Lord would deliver her from her guilt and self
loathing, that He would break the bonds on her life, and set her free.
That she would realize the truth, that God loves her and that the fear
and guilt she feels is not from God...conviction and the need to repent
maybe, but not self hating or suicidal thoughts. Please just pray for
her, and pray that if she comes to me again, that the Lord will make
me wise in how to council her. |
