Today has been a Classical Music day . . . I'm not certain why. I've been listening to show tunes and jazz for the past few weeks . . . but today was not a show tunes or jazz day . . . .

Do you know what? The Masterworks dancers kicked me out of the art room!

I couldn't believe it! I mean, HONESTLY! That's like kicking the Phantom of the Opera out of the Paris Opera House vaults because you want to fish on his underground lake! Don't we have a new dance floor thingamy down in the rec center? Couldn't they make use of that? Oh, no! They had to have MY studio, make use of MY great and glorious windows, and banish me to the dark and cold of the outer halls!

It's actually not that bad . . . I mean, I have set up rather comfortably in the work room . . . but, still! I just thought I'd fume about that a little bit.

I currently look as though  I am about ready to go on the war path (maybe I'll go after Masterworks dancers). All I need are buckskins and a tomahawk to complete the look. The war paint is certainly in place! It's blue and purple and pink and white, with dashes of green, and is streaked up and down my arms very dramatically.

Can you guess what I've been up to this afternoon?

That's right! I've been painting! My first painting of the summer (hoorah!), and it's a lot of fun so far! (No more pet portraits for a while! Sigh of relief!) It's a picture of a violet with a pale maiden dancing on the pettals, and in the shadows beneath it is a mysterious man at a grand piano . . . and there's going to be a silvery cresent moon in the sky, and I'm toying with the notion of a waterfall . . . but I think I'll just stick with stars and clouds for a background . . . don't want to make it too busy. I really do like this piece, though. I invented it while serving tables today, and it was a good thing I did, for I had determind that I was going to start a painting today if it KILLED me . . . but I hadn't decided what to paint. So, my Muse returned to me at just the right moment.

I love my Muse!

Most of the time.

So the other evening, I sang "Happy Birthday" to three different customers. We're not really supposed to do that, but these people really liked it! One table said to me when I had finished, "We want you to know, you ARE Mary Poppins!"

I am?

Really?

All right!

Actually, they're not the first people to tell me this . . . maybe I'm not a gypsy princess after all? Well, I could get used to being Mary Poppins, I think. She was proper, but she was fun and magical as well, and the children loved her. So, all right!

And one little girl who heard me said that she wanted to come back in February for her birthday so that I could sing to her too, because she LOVED me! That made me smile!

Speaking of little girls, you know what I love about being a Sunday School teacher? I love it when I see my Sunday Schoolers other places (such as, at work), and they run up and give me hugs! I really like that a lot! (And when they think my name is Mrs. Freckletooth, that's even better . . . referring to previous post.)

I was feeling mopey about my ability to relate with people recently (as in, AGAIN, yesterday), and wondering if I would ever get on the good side of the other servers at the Boat House. They always seemed uncertain of me (another girl mentioned how I am so "proper" again today). But today, one of the girls went out of her way to come up and tell me how very sweet natured I am, how all the servers think so, and she thanked me! My word! These people don't know me very well! But that made me feel ever-so-much better! Maybe God will be able to use me as a witnessing tool in this setting yet? One never knows! These people all know that I am a Christian, so we'll see . . . .

Still need prayer over a certain decision that I don't feel at liberty to discuss quite yet. Very soon, I hope. If you should think of me, please pray that I'll have wisdom in this . . . .

Crystal's birthday is on Thursday . . . I'm not certain what to do for it. I'm rather limited without a car! I want to bake her a cake, but I need transportation to Wal-Mart (suppose I could hitch hike . . . that would be an adventure!). I also want to get her a gift, but I want it to be something SPECIAL, and I'm just not certain what. Oh, I know! If any of you who are her friends read this, would you mind trying to give her a call at 574-528-0236 and wishing her many-happy-returns and all that? Call earlier in the day, or else REALLY LATE AT NIGHT so that you're not calling during a show. Actually, you could even start calling as early as tonight, just to be certain you catch her . . . she's one remarkably busy girl! But she's also stressed and in great need of loving friends . . . .

Thanks, y'all! I must go now . . . the writer in me is starting to battle with the artist in me for her fair share of time, so I think I'll go write for a bit. My Muse is calling to me . . . .

I'm sorry you got kicked out of your “catacomb.” There's nothing like a good dose of persecution (and misunderstanding) to help an artist. Quite possibly just what your Muse needed.

Does your Muse call to you like mine does? At least I know why mine is called a "mews." Thanks for the pep talk tonight.

I'm quite curious....exactly HOW did they kick you out?  I'm sure I can picture you being bodily carried out, kicking and screaming....or them dumping all your desk contents rudely into the hall with a sign "rummage sale"...and anything more realistic might be too boring...but I'm still curious...perhaps I shall have to ask you in person.

HHH

One of my dreams is to be Mary Poppins. I've been compared to Nancy Drew, but who cares about Nancy Drew when there's Mary Poppins?
