phew! big apple dancesport challenge (ballroom competition at columbia) is over! i made it to semifinals for chacha/rumba and jive . no finals, but we (my partner matt and i) got farther than i expected. i actually didn't think we would make it past the first round. some girl tripped me during the chacha and during the rumba my partner forgot part of the choreography so i just started following and then he remembered again but i just kept following his original lead... and we got offbeat for the jive for a little bit. yeah.... maybe the judges weren't looking when those things happened haha.
our sweatshirts are really big. the team ordered in men's sizes. i got a small. it looks like a large.

tablet arts fair (like, two weeks ago) also good. i actually painted two boards this time. one's in my room (i painted it to match my room lol) and the other is in janice's room. and i took all the leftover wooden boards back so i could repaint them for my wall. if you would like to help... hehe...

and now i have a paper to write for colloquium, after i do the posting for that class... and study for chinese dictation (surprise). for the last test in chinese, we didn't have time to go over our tongyi-ci (synonym matching thing), where we pick the two words of a set of four that are most similar to each other. since we couldn't go over it in class, i called mommy. her response to a few of the sets of words? (roughly translated and simplified): wtf?! none of those are similar! something's wrong with your teacher [who wrote our textbook].

my room looks prettier than it did at the beginning of the year. i'm still planning on getting frames tho, painting them black, and hanging them on that sort-of-blank space on my wall occupied by the MY EYES! THEY'VE BEEN REPLACED WITH MUFFINS! picture. there are some free ones downtown i saw a posting for on craigslist, but i dunno if they're still there. i certainly don't have time in the near future to get them.

i've taken a midterm, written a paper, done countless dictations, tests, discussions in chinese already. this semester is kinda going by fast. i wasn't expecting this. i have another midterm next week, and i'm leading discussion on the tale of genji for colloquium, which i haven't yet read.

dcdi ballroom competition. i'm actually going. except my partner is a girl. so now she has to learn the guy's part (yes... i'm still the follow hehe). why are like, no guys going? according to registration for the entire competition, from all schools and whatnot, about 2/3 of the people are girls. are guys not competitive? i know that's not true...

my basil plant is still alive 8^D. it's nice to not have something die because of you... (would anyone like some basil, by any chance? to like, cook with? it won't kill the plant. i'll just snip off the top part a little. that should induce more growth on the bottom part of the stem, right? some hormone won't be suppressed anymore...? it's been a while since bio)
