I'm back at work physically, but my mind is still in bed. I'm still feeling lethargic and stuffy, and in some ways I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. The remnants of this cold are still lingering and won't let me concentrate on the tasks I have in front of me, like e-mail. I keep stopping to blow my nose and wander around to get my blood flowing more so that I don't fall asleep at my desk. Now I'm procrastinating a bit before lunch.
After I went to the gym yesterday I went out for lunch with my friend Pitt. We hung out and had "hot pot" (huo guo) after our respective workouts and just chatted. Afterwards we wandered around SOGO department store and the Breeze Center for a couple of hours to help with the digestion process. Around 5 p.m. I was completely wiped out, so I went home and just lounged around my appartment for hours just channel surfing. Interestingly enough, there was a repeat showing of "The Fifth Estate" on CNN from two weeks ago related to blogging and the impact it has had on politics, media, and reporting in general. That held my attention for about an hour. Then sometime around 10 or 10:30 I crashed and didn't get up til 7:30 this morning.
Well today is a light day in terms of my schedule, which is great because I am not in the condition to deal with people today. Tomorrow is going to be a bit more demanding on my time, but I should be able to handle it. Wednesday I have the day off, Thursday is a routine day so far, and Friday and the weekend are also off.
Let's hope the weather improves. It's been raining a lot lately, and in fact, there has been some pretty bad flooding going on in Southern Taiwan. Typhoon season must be on its way.
10 more actual working days left, and 25 more days until I get on the plane and head back to Toronto!
