So I had my performance review with my boss yesterday.  That was an interesting experience.  What should have taken 30 minutes ended up going on for over an hour and a half.    It was definitely a dialogue more than a review.  We discussed a whole lot of stuff regarding my responsibilities, expectations, and support I needed from her.  In the end we agreed that we both need to communicate more with each other.  I also got the go ahead to spend more.    And I quote, "You don't spend enough."  What she meant was that I needed to look for more resources that would help my instructors and that I should be buying gift certificates or other rewards to give my instructors for a job well done.  Woohoo!  You don't have to tell me twice!    I'll be doing that this afternoon for sure!   

We also spent a good chunk of time griping about the level of paranoia and general hypocrisy at the National Office upstairs and that the fact that the bigwigs are seven floors above us didn't help anyone's stress level.  There's something quite satisfying about bitching about head office staff with your boss.    So I left the her office feeling much better about where things were going and what I had to look forward to in the next five months. 

The rest of the day was hectic, but I survived.  I've got a relatively quiet day today to plan out a bunch of things including the training that I have to conduct for new English instructors next week.  Thankfully the weekend is almost here!
