Twiddling my thumbs

So it's Thursday of Reading Week... What have I done so far?  Very little actually.  But that's a good thing!

Monday: I hit the gym and did some weight training for the first time in about a month.  I did a little bit of everything so as not to go into shock from all the sudden activity: legs, chest, back, and shoulders.  Out of all the body parts I worked, my chest was the most sore the next day.  Go figure.  Aside from that I just read a bit, updated Xanga and Facebook, and joined MySpace.  (Yes, I finally jumped on the MySpace bandwagon)

Tuesday: I had lunch with my friend Diane who I hadn't seen in years.  Background: Diane and I go way back: she and I went to elementary and high school together, and stayed good friends all through undergrad even though we went to different universities.  But we lost touch over the years.  After I moved to Taipei and back (and back to Taipei and back again) we somehow just stopped communicating.  However, last week I logged onto Facebook and I got this *poke* from her sister, Sandy.  From there it was just another click and voila, Diane and I were back in touch again!  So Tuesday we got together downtown and had lunch, caught up on old times, and had a great time.  After that I killed some time wandering around downtown then hit the gym in the evening.

Wednesday: I started my day having lunch with my friend Nadia. (Yes, my day started just before noon yesterday.  )  Nadia and I, although good friends, don't get to hang out nearly often enough.  She moved back to Toronto from Florida last year after spending a lifetime down there and now works doing communications for a certain recently renamed stadium with a retractable roof in downtown Toronto.  So I went down there and had a quick bite to eat with her, then wandered around the Eaton Centre for a few hours.  I picked up some adorable baby clothes for my future niece and a couple of gifts for my sister.  I hit the gym again, then met up with my sister and brother-in-law after they finished work and went over to their place where I tried to bake a chocolate angel food cake. (Basically it was Angel Food Cake, but with some cocoa mixed in.)  I wasn't overly impressed with the final product, so I'll have to find an alternative recipe somewhere to see if there's a better way to make it.

Today: What do I have planned?  Nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  I might go to the gym for BodyCombat later tonight, but aside from that, there's nothing going on.  Tomorrow will be a whole lot of nothing too.  Now, while I enjoy some down time and even like having some "me" time, too much is not good either.  I get bored, and there's only so much time I can spend window shopping, working out, or on line before I get restless.  Plus, I really miss Peter.  He's been gone for almost two weeks now, which is the longest we've been apart since I was in Taiwan.  Although we chat on the phone a bit every day, and occassionally on MSN, I miss cuddling on the couch with him watching TV at the end of the day.  He'll be back on Sunday night, which is only a few more days away.

At some point I should actually pick up my books and get through the required readings for my first classes of the new quarter.  But I'm not THAT bored yet.    I also plan to do some more job searching for summer intern positions so that I can have some savings to get me through second year.

Sounds like good times. I'm still not sold on MySpace, but I might get a page nonetheless.

I guess it could be boring when you have nothing to do. But, you have been dreaming of having this extra free time to relax and to caught up in whatever you have been missing out on. If I where you I go out with couple of friends and do some fun activities together that you all share passion about. I don't mean window shopping. You could do only some much of window shopping in one week. Been there myself. Maybe, hiking, swimming, hotpot, go watch a musical,...etc. These are just some suggestion. You don't have to take them it's just an idea. Hope the best works out for you as always.

I actually ordered Wine for Dummies on Amazon today LOL...just an impulse buy, fun read, someone asked me the other day about the type of red wines I enjoy...and I swear, I can't tell the difference, as long as its not too dry, I'm all for it!  It would be nice to learn a little about wine  and hopefully it'll make me a little more cultured! :)
