| | Yesterday, we had a raging thunderstorm. My sweet little Doodlebug was outside as the rain started falling, but since it was so hot, I didn't immediately call the kiddo in. Suddenly it got much darker and said, "hey, was that lightning?" and several seconds later, there was a huge rumble of thunder. Andrew ran -screaming- into the house. It took both of us to calm him down and shrink the whites of his eyes. I didn't think he was going to blink again! He was soaked from playing in the neighbor's puddles (more hose than rain), so I started to change him, and he got mad at me that he hadn't peed his pants. I think this was actually a good thing, because it distracted him from his fear. We said we were going to go eat with Gramma, and that he probably should have clean, dry clothes on for this. He didn't want to have to go back outside. He wanted to go to Gramma's, but didn't want to go outside to get there. Hmmmmmm. Well, we're not going to Gramma's, we're going to the steak house. We need to go outside long enough to get to the car, but we'll hold hands the whole way, OK? Andrew decided that when we got to the restaurant, he would "sit in your wap and hide so da funder can't find me." Hee it was so cute! It was actually who did most of the comforting/protecting, though. Awwww. At dinner, Mom and I shared our fish and shrimp with Andrew, and he (of course) got it all over himself. reached over and took a tasty morsel off the kid's shirt and popped it into his mouth! Eww! Mom laughed and said that if INS didn't believe we were a "real family" all they needed to do was go to dinner with us. Nah, he'd be on his best behavior and not do such gross things. Heck, Naters would probably find all the worst things to tell the INS people, anyway. That's the kind of kid he is (whaddaya expect from a 5 year old?) |
