| | Yay! Xanga is back up. I've tried to log in a couple times in the past few days, no surprise that I couldn't yesterday evening ....
I don't even remember what all I was going to write about the other times I tried to log in, but I did apply for a new job this week, have an interview on Monday. Could be a really fun job if I get it, although I suspect they'll want a little more education.
Today, we drove 3 (or very nearly) hours to Worlds of Fun. We decided to keep it a complete surprise to the boys, even to the point of packing a picnic lunch and saying "We'll just pull into this parking lot and eat." Heehee. They had asked to go to the park, to the tiny local amusement park, to a fair-type thingy we passed on the way north .... We just kept turning them down and saying "we'll find something fun to do." Nate still didn't suspect as we pulled off the highway into the entrance to WoF. He admired the water tower and mentioned he'd seen a sign for WoF, and that would be so fun sometime. He then saw the entrance sign and said, "See, I said I'd seen a sign for it!" asked, "What sort of place is it?" "An amusement park." I said, "Hey, what's that big red thing there?" "That's a rollercoaster, Mom!" "Oh, of course it is. Silly me." Nate went on and on about how cool it'd be to someday go there until finally said, "Yeah, maybe we will do that sometime." We finally got parked, with some "I gotta pee!!" drama from Andrew, and found a shady spot to eat our lunch. Andrew still apparently had no clue where we were, and so had no suspicions raised, nor hopes up. Nate, on the other hand, was trying to talk us into going into the park, "Just for a little while." finally had to say "Nate, we're here; this is where we're going." His little face lit up! It was great. We went in and got right on the Bamboozler, which is one of those "spin around and stick you to the outer wall" sort of rides that make me want to puke. But we fit the height requirement. We spent most of the afternoon trying to find rides we could all go on, which meant Nate and I missed a few we really would have liked to do. The kids spent a lot of time in the Camp Snoopy part, which was pretty fun for them, but not so much so for us, because most of those rides are for -under- 54". We ran into all sorts of nice people. The type of people I like to believe are what people are really like. pointed out that "I've seen so many assholes..." I agreed, but over all, I think I've met more people like our experience today. We forgot our coupon, and the lady in line ahead of us shared hers. We were trying to pack away our phones in line for Fury of the Nile, and the lady ahead of us gave us a ziploc bag. We had nice little chats in line for rides. Overall, it was pleasant, with pleasant people. There were a few people who were thoughless or inattentive, but that merely slowed us down or temporarily separated us into two pairs. No "assholes" to be found. Even in that godawful heat. I feel more in tune with the world and happy with my place in it. "Aren't you glad I suggested it?" Heh. Now to go to bed and rest this poor, tired, aching body! |
