Not sure what his weapon was, but he stabbed grandpa in the arm while at Aunt D's. "he was pulling on my collar and I wanted him to stop." Uhh... then say 'please let go.' "I Diiiiid." uh-huh. then you say 'grandpa you're hurting me, please let go.' and grandpa will let go because he sure doesn't want to hurt you. "I DiiIiid!" If you said it in that whiney voice, no wonder he didn't listen.
The kid went in to time-out at least 3 separate occasions in his 24 hours at Aunt D's house. I do believe his collar-pulling story. I can see that. Grandpa is pretty oblivious sometimes, so even if he started with "please stop" grandpa maybe really didn't listen. But still, you do NOT stab people. And in the morning he threatened to stab his cousin in the eye if she didn't stop playing with her new noisy toy. "I was only joking." Aunt D said that it wasn't funny. 'you don't joke about stabbing.' Gee, especially after having -actually stabbed- someone a mere 12 hours before? The next time Andrew gets to go to Aunt D's house, I'm going to make a big deal about not letting Nate go along, just to make a point that stabbing, greediness, and the other general shittiness he displayed are NOT OK.
Oh yeah, greediness. I heard about the stabbing incident when I dropped by to drop off presents for my nieces and clean clothes for the boys since they were spending the night. I almost took the kid home right then, which would have meant missing my movie. He saw the big red gift bag and wanted to know what was in it "whatsinitwhatsintherewhatisit?" *jumpjumpjump* Presents for the girls and for Grammy. Aunt D asked if I wanted them to open them right then so I could watch, and Niece S said "yes you want us to open them right now!" *grin* She was being silly, but eager. It didn't sound greedy, it was just funny. I said I'd have to go get out of the car, and then he vetoed the idea so we wouldn't be late to the movie. When I came back in and said, 'No, just open them with your family gifts,' Nate asked if he could open HIS then.
There aren't any gifts in there for you, Nate.
"WHY NOT?!?!?! Not Even One!?!?"
Whoah. Kid. Where are you going to be on Christmas Day?
"With you."
Right. So why would I bring my gifts to you over here? You're going to have enough gifts from the people that will be at Aunt D's house on Christmas Eve.
"So could I open one of those?" Pointing at tree.
Uh. No. Those are for tomorrow. Those are for sharing with this part of the family. (I thought, 'and you're just here because they're polite and invite Andrew's bastard-half-brother who isn't actually their family.)

How did this kid become such a violent greedy SOB?? His dad can be an asshole, but sheesh. I'm not violent, and I'm very rarely materialistic like that. Yeah, I like my pretty van and nice clothes, etc. But if I don't get to open it RIGHT NOW, I'm not going to get upset! I don't remember EVER feeling like that.

Today Nate was little better. 1He got angry with my mom when she said, "let's save those gifts for after breakfast." 2He got angry when we didn't go straight from breakfast and gifts at my mom's to dinner and gifts at my step-aunt C's. 3He refused to nap and wouldn't be still or quiet enough for Andrew and me to fall asleep (as a treat, I let them both pile into my bed. I ended up kicking him out of the room.) 4He woke me from my nap even after getting kicked out. 5He woke Andrew from his nap right after I got up, even though I said, "let's let Andrew sleep a little longer." 6I practically had to drag him out of Aunt C's by his ears and hair. 7They both got RC cars, and we discovered that both remotes control both cars. This means it's difficult to use both at once. "Since I started first, I'll play with MY car today, and you can play with yours tomorrow." You Little Fucknut. NO. I went stomping in there as he was 8trying to wrest control of Andrew's remote, and I said that if they couldn't find a nicer way to take turns or play together, then I would take both cars away already.
Andrew was angelic by comparison.
Andrew broke down into tears 3 times today, refused to potty without someone just standing right over him, ate too much off the hors d'ouvre / dessert table (and coughed all over it), and was difficult to coax out of Aunt C's house. But he was simply Angelic compared to his big brother. Sheesh.

Both guesses about the failure of the special effects were wrong. I do agree with both of them, but neither was the one that had me going "ick, sloppy." Legolas on the elephant-monster was just too much. For the most part I 'suspended my disbelief' because it's a movie full of magic and races with special abilities, etc, but come on. And Gollum on Frodo was a little weak. The part that was just plain sloppy, rather than difficult to swallow, was when Frodo is running into the cave on the side of the volcano. His feet "slide" across the ground. He's supposed to be running solidly on solid ground, but it has a very cartoonish effect because they didn't synch the angles very well.

I was going to post pictures of the tree and of gift-opening, but I have no idea where even PUT the camera and I want to go to bed. So that will wait until tomorrow or this weekend. I do have to say that my father is silly. You'll love the photos.

And just in case she still reads me: I love my Titty. She's the bestest Titty in the whole wide world.
