 Party Animal
So I've sent out the email invitations to my party. Did I mention that I chickened out on the Clue party? Suddenly I realized today that I missed one that I actually had spoken to about it on the phone. Erg. So I emailed her that I'm a total flake and forwarded her the info.
I'm going to have a Halloween Party on the Saturday following
Halloween. Costumes would be great, but if you're a chicken you can
come in street clothes. I'll have snack food, pop, some booze
(including meade), and apple cider. If you want to contribute (or
think I won't have your fave) please do.

Details:
What: Costume Party
When: November 2, 7:00 pm
Where: ***
Why: Because I wanna
Who: You people and your men (notice that the 'to' list is all
women) and one or 2 I don't have email addresses for.

Please let me know if you think you can come!
Monica

The meade comment is for R. She LOVES Chaucer's Meade. We discovered it at the RenFest a couple years ago. I've only had one confirmation so far. And it was K "I'll probably just come for a few minutes, can I bring another couple along?" Okaaay.

Dreaming away
Last night I dreamed odd things again. Too bad I waited 5 hours before trying to write it down, because I've mostly forgotten it. I honestly thought I remembered the dream, but the music came back on as I put my fingers to the keys to type it. *POOF* I'll update this segment if it comes back.

Reading with Nate
This morning I realized that once again, we didn't read the classroom book Nate brought home. He's supposed to bring a new one home almost every night, read it to me, and have me comment and sign his paper. It was relatively thick, so there was no way it would get read in the 3 minute drive to school. He tried anyway. He read the first 'chapter', a story about an old woman and a boy. Many of you have probably heard it, I have, too. But today I thought "geez, what a mean old woman!" She makes some food for the kid and says, "here, eat." He says, "I will not." So she says, "Stick, beat that boy." The stick says, "I will not." So she says, "Fire, burn that stick." The fire says, "I will not." ... water douse fire, bull drink water, knife cut off bull's horns, man hammer knife, rope tie man, mouse nibble rope, cat eat mouse. The cat says, "Sure, I can do that." Then the mouse says, "Hey, if I'm going to get eaten for it, I'll nibble the rope." The rope says, "No, I'll tie up the man." ... each item changes its mind and says, "no, that's OK, I'll do that." Finally the stick decides it will beat the boy, and the boy decides, OK, I'll eat. The picture shows the boy eating, and the old woman looking all smug. I'm just not sure about this crap! *laugh* You know, I'm turning into one of those parents that annoyed me as a kid. As a kid, I always thought, "Back off, I know the stories are fiction, I don't think I can fly like Superman, stop protecting the fun out of my life." Now I'm one of those parents. Eeek!
