| | I am suddenly exhausted by life. I got a decent series of energy rushes in the last week. Now, the first few sent me to an early bedtime, but still, I got a lot done. I totally cleaned out the van and washed the floormats. I got a lot of laundry folded and put away, I got a little furniture moved, I got the cutting boards seasoned (but you already knew that.) Today I got more laundry washed and was going to head out to the laundromat so I could dry them all at once (my dryer is still on the fritz.) Since I wasn't hungry and was manning the pot of boiling macaroni, I suggested I just head right to the laundromat while the kids were occupied with a movie and were about to be occupied by dinner. suggested I wait. I don't remember the reason. It wasn't a bad one, but for some reason it made me want to cry. I guess my little bubble of "I'm in control" just burst when he didn't smile and nod. *sigh*
I still haven't heard back from most of my party guests. One has a houseguest, so that's her 'excuse' for not reading her email and responding (whatever, I know she still plants her ass in front of the computer, no matter who's in her house.) One hasn't checked her email in months, but she has a brand-new baby and I suspected she hadn't checked it. I phoned her and asked her. She'll get back to me. The rest ... they don't have kids, they don't have houseguests, and they DO read their email regularly. Why have they not gotten back to me? I have one "I think so, but am not sure if my husband will come" and one "I may stop in for 5 minutes with other people" (whom I may or may not know.) I'm already imagining the night of the party. There'll be a table loaded with untouched food, 2 crockpots of hot beverages (maybe 3), and a half-dozen 2-liters. Oh, and a melting punchbowl full of ice. Whee. And to eat/drink this will be a nursing mom and me. That leaves me a whole bottle of meade to myself, I suppose.
What is MEADE? It is a fermented honey drink. It comes in a wine bottle, but doesn't really taste like wine. It's sweet, and best when served warm. I specifically state Chaucer's because it's the only one I've tried and I like it. I've heard that some other brands are not as good. I haven't bothered to find out, since the liquor store that -always- has meade only carries Chaucer's. I don't know about the other liquor stores, as they don't always have -any- meade in stock. |
