Well, he's gone.

Once I got to sleep last night, I slept like the dead.  I did not want to wake up!  We got out of the house (somehow) by about 8:40, went to Wal Mart, got the chains (very nice-looking ones, I'm pleased.) got out of there about a quarter after, and got to the airport shortly after 11:00!!!  People insist this is a 3-hour drive.  Yes, I speed, but good lord not that much!!  Traffic was on my side, even with the rain.  We got his luggage checked, went to one of the airport bars, had some coffee (and I'm NOT a coffee drinker.  I suppose that shows my state of mind, even though I was outwardly very calm.) found somewhere to sit, and ate our sandwiches.  That was my job this morning after our shower, to make the sandwiches.  I made him 4 and me 2, packed 2 cans of Coke, and a carton of OJ.  He ended up packing a can of Coke and a sandwich into his carryon.  We even got to sit and have a -little- smoochie time.  All in all, it was pretty nice.  I didn't turn into a raving freak like I've been doing lately.

I went to Wal Mart tonight.  I've been wanting to have a garden.  I already bought seeds for some herbs and greens.  Marigolds, too.  Tonight I bought potting soil, 2 kinds of onions, and this cool little greenhouse.  It's one of those with the pellets you soak in water and then shove your seeds into.  When it's time to transplant, you just grab the whole pellet and put it in the hole in the ground.  I told my 4-year-old that he could help me do that tomorrow night.  He asked me why I didn't get carrots, tomatoes and potatoes.  I told him we'd go get carrots and I'd think about the tomatoes and potatoes.  I have a friend who already told me she overplanted both of those, and to expect freebies.  Nate doesn't seem to think you could possibly have too many tomatoes.  I'll agree it's difficult, but it IS possible.  :-P  I'm wanting to do something unusual with my herbs.  They don't need much depth, so I'm thinking I could find a shallow glass dish and let the boys watch the root system grow also.  I just need to figure a way that the dish doesn't travel.  *grin*  I want to put it on the back patio once it's going strong, but I just don't know about the neighbor kids.  They've been known to play on my patio (one of the few safe and smooth places for bikes, etc) and I'm not sure they'd be able to leave it alone.  I suppose I'll just find out, if I even find the dish I want.  I'm thinking of going to the Salvation Army and places like that.  There might be some casserole dishes that nobody wants because they're ugly, but they'd be great for this!  Heck, it wouldn't even matter if it was slightly cracked.  OK.  There's my after-class project for tomorrow.

I think it's time to put my sleepy head to bed.
