Took Mr. Toothache (Andrew) to the dentist this morning. He was SO good! I warned them that this is his good side, and sometimes he's very wiggly and can have tantrums. They took 3 X-rays, and he sat so still for them. She had to hold the wand they put the film on, though. He wouldn't bite hard enough. *giggle* Finally on the third, he figured out what he was supposed to be doing. She was so patient with him, and so cheerful. I think he really liked her. You know how some people think that louder is better when you're trying to get a kid's attention? She wasn't one of them, she was very soft-spoken, but still fully understandable, even when I had to stand in the hall for the X-rays. The dentist said he needs 3 crowns, basically a partial root canal. On an adult, they take out the entire root, on a child, they take out only the damaged part, and as little as possible of the healthy part. He's scheduled for 3 more appointments (they do them one at a time, especially since they're one right and the left upper and lower, so they're not clustered anywhere.) Expensive little guy will cost me a little over $600 by the time it's done! I'm going to try to get him a medical card again. We've been off state aid for well over a year now, but I think I need some assistance with this one! I've put a couple thousand into my car's engine recently, plus calling plumbers and dryer repairmen and traveling quite a bit, what with in-laws (airport is almost 3 hours away) and going to the city for INS stuff. I've pretty well depleted my "Play money" I do still have a little savings, but it's money from Grandma and I wanted to invest it properly, rather than on all these expenses. Grandma's already paid for the car! Well, we'll see. I'm pretty sure that SRS takes savings into account, so I might get turned down. Doesn't hurt to try, though.
