First off my love goes out to all who commented on that last entry! (Feel free to still comment) But a new issue has aroused (okay correct English here…aroused/arisen/arose??)

This still deals with some stress I mentioned in the previous entry but…
I’ve been talking to someone I admire…well respect and she said…

“You are a very talented performer (in reference to guard); I would hate to see you go, but we all need to do what is best for ourselves..... Good life lesson... figure out what makes you truly happy inside and go for it.”

I 100% agree with that quote but it still puts me between a rock and a hard place!

How do choose between something you love to do compared to pursuing your dream?

I love doing guard…for the most part! I love marching back after a sweaty practice while listening the drums play their cadence. I love the stupid but fun things we do during football games. I love band bus ride home after competitions and the wonderful memories we make. I love marching back with the guard after winning a football game and being all excited and hoping over speed bumps. I love the thrill of performing and then having the crowd react wildly during a huge hit!

But on the other hand that has nothing to do with me dream or pursing my dream or even related to my dream.

Guard has taught me to perform and be confident and look high but as far as anything else to my dream…ennnn…

If I didn’t do guard I’d have time for being in shows, better my voice, possibly taking dance classes that would help me hopefully, someday to be an unstoppable triple threat but…well…what do you think?

There is no reason for you to have to choose.  You don't have to be bound to one thing for your life.  You've got your whole life ahead of you (which is a lot of time to figure things out).  You can pursue your dreams and do what you love, although, don't you love to do whatever your dream is?  For example, if it hasn't been made very clear to you yet, you will soon realize just how obsessed with whitewater I am.  One of the few things that puts a spring in my step is kayaking and yet, unless I get really good really fast, I won't be able to make it into a career.  Therefore, I'm going to pursue a science carreer which is something else I enjoy, but I will still kayak.  Any free time that I get, you will know where I'll be!  My main point: Don't stop doing what you love because you think you won't have time.  There will always be time.

My favorite motto, "If you do what you like, you will like what you do."

(wow, I thought I was about to end this long comment, but I just thought of something else) lol

There are many ways in which you could combine the two things.  For example, I've been thinking of ways to combine both kayaking/being outdoors and science.  Basically, I decided that I could be a teacher and have the summers all to myself to paddle, I could be a park ranger of some sort, I could do some kind of research regarding the physics of river currents, I could write for a paddling magazine, or I could be a geologist and study river basins or something.  Ya see, where I'm going with this?  You're not even out of high school.  You've got plenty of time to figure it out!  Don't worry!

(he hears the Don't Worry, Be Happy song in the background)

Dude! Like Zach said! You needn't choose. Yes, you want to do theatre. Yes, you love doing guard. Combine them! Take a flag to the stage or act while twirling! Besides! you study too much. Take some extra time to do both. Do guard for half of the day and theatre the rest! LIFE IS SO OPEN-ENDED! Who knows! You may break your wrist(god forbid) and never be able to twirl again, BUT you then may meet a cute doctor man and find yourself a husband(assuming you broke your wrist during college or something(again, god forbid)). We dont know what will happen next, so its all free. Live life! you should know that the most. You just do what you do(its the laaaaast midnight....its the laaast verse....)  and have fun!!!

Well then, if you must choose, ask yourself which one you would enjoy most at this time.  I know you love to act and apparently, you enjoy twirling.  Pick the one that will make you happy.  Life isn't meant to be spent fretting over which activity you want to do.

Also, another option, two weeks before school until about November isn't too much time.  You could take lessons any other time of the year.  Just because you have twirling in that time period doesn't mean you can't do anything else.  You don't have to commit to anything right now.  Try a bunch of things, and with your kind of talent, adaptability, and smarts, I'm sure you'll go far in any direction.  You have nothing to worry about!

p.s. You're not going to let me forget about the red headed thing are you? lol

(comment to previous entry) In all seriousness, my dear, you seem to going through what I had gone through in elementary school, yet opposite way around... yet the question truly remains is that why do you let them get to you? I have broken down, yeah in 5th grade, but ever since It's like climbing a mountain... you make your way up to the top... and there's only one top for approx. 23 billion people. Who is going to win, Who is going to fail, and who is going to become the Appr... sorry wrong line... but still you need to get some (sorry to say this way, but it's the truth) self-confidence, pride, and a stronger ego, that doesn't break easily. I don't want you to change because of the people that don't care for you, and they are complete strangers for you.

(comment to this one) first off...arisen to answer your English question. Music, Psychology, and Fencing is my triple threat... and I love all three of them... you may think that you need something that you need to live, and you absolutely right this time. But what tears (as to tear a piece of paper) tears me up inside is that you want to reach for the Empire State Building as your goal... and that's perfectly UNACCEPTABLE! I want you to walk out side (regardless of whether it's raining or not) and I want you to look straight up... what do you see? Sky, is correct that's still not your goal, you want to shoot beyond the sky... there is no limit for you... or anyone that reads this... you need to harness what you have, harness your love, aggression, passion, and pride and let it propel you to a place where no one else can reach except yourself... (yes, Mike, this is what I use for myself) if you need a personal cheerleader, I can be it... trust me, I don't have the slightest idea if Dan is graduating on time or not, but if he is... I pushed him when he knew that there was no way to win... there's always and I mean always a way out... whether you are carrying a sledgehammer or not, there's a way out... and if you need to talk to me: LeviathanReviver is my AOL screenname and you already know my yahoo one... Don't be afraid to talk to me at church or online, there's no reason to.
