  • Nevada Dems "Fair and Balanced"

FNC_logo The Nevada Democratic Party has decided it would rather be "fair and balanced," than to cave to supposedly powerful netroots advocates.  The party has decided to contract with Fox News to televise a Democratic presidential debate on August 14 in Reno.  In response to this deal, MoveOn.org began circulating a petition opposing any dealings with Fox News.  The 527 claimed that letting Fox televise this debate would have great "consequences for the entire progressive movement."  The Nevada Democratic party, backed by DNC Chairman Howard Dean (a 2004 darling of the netroots), defended its decision citing needs to reach out to potential voters beyond their normal strategies.  Fox News is the highest rated 24 hour cable news channel aboe closest rivals CNN and MSNBC.

In other news, Fox News is attempting its own satire news show called the 1/2 Hour News Hour.  There are two pilot episodes, the next one showing at 10 PM ET on February 25.  The response to the first pilot episode has mixed.  Here's a clip featuring Rush Limaugh and Ann Coulter:

Wow.... to think that MoveOn.org (nothing more than a website that sends out obnoctious emails 3 or 4 times a day) would even think to stand opposed to a "fair an balanced" news source! : )

I don't know what they are thinking, but I think the 4 or 5 minutes of the "Half Hour News Hour" that I was able to see were absolutely hilarious. I laugh when liberals come out and say "OH! It's horrible! It is only jeers and stabs at people! Ad Hominem attacks left and right! This is a BAD show!" because it is exactly what Conservatives have dealt with for the last... well, forever!

    Well, only one more day...

So is Rush kicking off a presidential bid? I could go for that.

This whole Nevada debate gig is only an attempt to win NV in '08. Nevada was closer than Ohio in 2004 and by hosting this debate, the Democratic Party will boost support in the state.

Anyway, the half news hour is pretty funny, watched it last night...Probably best for ages 13 and up.
