Pelosi Courts Syria
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) held talks with Syria's leaders today. Specifically, Pelosi addressed Syria's support for terrorist groups in the region and delivered a message of peace from Israel's prime minister. Syria has been a strong supporter of Hamas, and has engaged in attempts to topple the legitimate Lebanese government, including being behind the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
The Bush administration has been strongly against opening dialogue with the totalitarian state. Past delegations have been unsuccessful. Nevertheless, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad expressed his willingness to open up peace negotiations with Israel. The chances of which are about as great as pigs flying.

Wow... since when was Pelosi the Israeli Ambassador?

When I saw this post, the pic kind of freaked me out. You should warn people with small children.

I think Pelosi overstepped her bounds with this one. She had explicit instructions *not* to visit Syria by President Bush. It is the President who determines foriegn policy, and for her to disobey like this shows her contempt not only for those in authority, but for America in general. That's all there is to it: She disobeyed an order from the Commander-in-Chief. I think that if you wanted to strech things a bit far, you could even call her a traitor...but I won't do that. =)
