  • Mr. Freeze(r) Idicted

Mr WilliamJeffersonMr. Freeze(r) may be heading to the big house to be placed on ice.  Embattled Louisiana Rep. William Jefferson was indicted on 16 charges on Monday relating to bribery, racketeering, obstruction of justice, and money laundering.  If convicted on all counts, although unlikely, Jefferson could face up to 235 years in jail.

The FBI finally nailed Jefferson last year when he accepted $100,000 from an FBI informant.  $90,000 of that money was later found in the back of one of Jefferson's home freezer units.  Central to the case is Jefferson's accepting of bribes in exchange for African government contracts, mostly in Nigeria.  The case has gained a lot of attention there and even came into play during the Nigerian's most recent presidential election.
