  • Obama, Huckabee Surging in Iowa

BarackObama2Hillary Clinton (D) and Mitt Romney's (R) long-held grip on Iowa may be crumbling.  This is according to recent polls that show decreasing numbers from the front runners.

On the Democratic side, a new Iowa poll conducted by ABC and the Washington Post shows, for the first time since late September, that someone other than Hillary Clinton leads.  That someone is Illinois Senator Barack Obama.  Among likely voters, Obama polls at 30%, Hillary at 26%, John Edwards at 22%, Bill Richardson at 11% and Joe Biden at 4%.  Clinton still holds a wide lead in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and other early primary states, but the news is encouraging for Hillary's opponents.

MikeHuckabee2 On the GOP side, a new American Research Group poll shows former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee within two points of Mitt Romney.  Among likely voters Romney polls at 26%, Huckabee at 24%, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson at 11%, John McCain at 10%, Ron Paul at 3% and 11% undecided.  Romney still leads in New Hampshire, but Giuliani leads in the rest of the early primary states.
