  • "Its been awhile, hasn't it now?"

In my vague attempt to study for my exams this week I turned to the continous drama of xanga.  A break was indeed needed.  This weekend has been a lot of fun, but a lot of guilt has been put on me as well... because I should have been studying more for my exams then going out with Ben or going golfing with Shane.  This is how college works though... too many intruptions that can make or break your career there.  I assume everyone is doing alright, even though there as been a few entries I've been reading that have left me kind of sad.

I just started my five hour hall desk shift in Cornerstone, and before I opened the door there were people bugging to have whatever service they deem necessary.  The arrogance of people in this world is so astounding.  I was pissed beyond belief because people just assume that they should get what they want when they want it.  Well listen up to this folks, from a first hand experience the real world does not tolerate people like this, and they would eat you up faster then you can say noodles.  I hate starting my shift off all depressed and angry, but thats what happens.  I don't know what has got into me lately... I just feel overwhelmed by everything, even the littlest issue that unfolds can leave me frustrated and pissy.  Its not any ones fault, I need to get my schedule down and organized.

Friday night I spent most of the night with some men from my floor gossipping about current events (i.e. Iowa-Iowa State Football game, the Police Liasion factoid, classes, vandalism on campus, and the ques tion what politics I really practice:  a left-wing tree hugger or right-wing soup nazi?)  and the occasional video game here and there.  Once again, on a Friday night I spent some of it working on homework... which makes me seem like a complete nerd with no life.  Which very well could be true.  And even if it does seem that I am a nerd at least I am getting some things done that will benefit me later on in my life.  Boo-ya!

Saturday I woke up late which in turn ment that I was late getting over to Ben's place.  When I did finally arrive I was treated like a royal guest (Ben had made pizza and got me pop for the football game) and we had an excellent time.  The football team did lose, but shouldn't have because of our stupid field-goal kicker that wouldn't make a damn field-goal.  The final score was 17-10, Iowa, but would have been 19-17 if the kicker had done his job.  Shoulda, woulda, coulda.  Honestly, I thought for a while there I would have had a better chance at kicking the ball then this guy, but it was his first game and he was only a freshmen (true freshmen) with little to no experience what so ever.  Its nice to know that Iowa State can get quality for there back-ups.  After the football game I decided that I wanted to go golfing but I needed someone to go with... so I called up Shane and begged him to come with me.  After a few minutes of protesting he came along with.

After my amazing round on Wednesday I thought I would play the same course but from the hardest set of tees.   ::Dun dun dunnnn::  The Black Tee's.  Famous for there unrelenting pursuit to ruin your, what you thought, perfect golf game.  It was a beautiful day with a little wind coming from the west, but still a great day to play golf.  I had a alright front nine... shooting a 39 on the front on a par 36.  Then came the back nine.  Never in my life had I played so well.  I was draining putts from 20-30 feet away, and I couldn't miss a shot if I tried with my irons.  My driver had been a bitch and a half all day long, but on the 14th hole i finally got it working right.  As soon as that happened I went birdie, eagle, birdie, bogie, par for a 35 on the back nine.  I had a few bogies before the limelight was on me.  So... the ending round score was a 75.  It was amazing!  I did a little Tiger Woods dance when I made the 60 foot eagle putt, and when I finished I made Shane take me out to Wendy's since he dared to challenge me on a day like yesterday.  I even gave the kid 8 strokes both sides... such a shame.

After golf and Wendy's I went home and went to my room and played about four hours of Sim City 4.  That game is the soul reason while I will fail all my classes this semester.  It was NCAA Football 2004 last year, and now its this stupid game.  I even tried to throw it away last night but I started crying and dug it out of the trash.  LOL (no I didn't really cry, but I was kicking myself for being so foolish.)  Went to bed after I talked to Mark Harper and Jeff about the floor, and then I woke up, ate a little bit, and then came my rightful spot that I am typing to you from now.

I'd like to end with a helpful reminder to all of you, though I seem to be busy at this time of year that doesn't mean that I think about you guys/girls, because I do.  I hope everyone is doing fine and dandy.  Go to jibjab.com and check out the John Kerry/President Bush parody... you'll love it.  And for God's Sake, VOTE!

    Love,
    Brian
