Why? Because I can. This is my own version of a hot toddy -- one shot of rum is just enough to put me to sleep, so it's a good evening drink (which is why I'm sipping on one at 2300).
10 ounces cranberry juice
1/2 stick cinnamon, 3 cloves, a few chunks of candied ginger, 3 allspice berries, 3 peppercorns
1 shot spiced rum
Warm the juice with the spices over low heat for about 10 minutes. Strain out the spices, and add to the rum in a large mug. For a less alcoholic version, cook the rum with the juice -- most of the alcohol will evaporate.
It's maybe not quite as traditional as the usual black tea, lemon, honey, and brandy concoction, but I like it.

If only I were 21...3 more years to go.
I'm not a drinker, so if I were to try something like this I would have to make sure I couldn't taste the alcohol. I'm just weird like that. lol
nice nice.. gotta try that next drinking session.
I'm a fan of the White Russian - easy on the tongue and low on the alcohol content (meaning I can drink a LOT of them >.>)
Boy...that sounds really good! And seeing as how I have been 21 for oh...2 weeks and 1 day now, I can happily indulge in your lovely recipe with no worries! :D

For those hot, sticky summer nights, try this:
Butter pecan ice cream with Jamaican rum in a blender! A "cold butter rum." Awesome, super-smooth, cooling, and relaxing. And yummy!
I'm always a fan of the fruity specialty drinks...strawberry dacquiries and such.
I could use a drink like that...I have issues with insomnia.
