| - Track 5 - Hey everyone. I hope everyone had a great week and is ready to start an even better weekend. I had fun this weekend; I was able to spend a few days with my best friend down at her apt. We went to an art show, had a few beers, hung out, tanned, went shopping and had lunch/dinner/breakfast. Mmm. . . had the best coconut-carrot muffin and the best zinc juice! The sun felt great and so did the ocean breeze. The beaches on the east coast are no match compared to those in Cali- Malibu, Laguna etc.-simply the best. Yes, Cali is home, so, I'm a little biased but so what? haha.
Ahh...so summer's coming to an end and I am dreading the return of classes, work and just overall stress. There's nothing like the lazy, care-free days of summer. I was, however, a little dissapointed that this summer wasn't marked by great movies. Summer movies just aren't the same anymore. Some of it is probably due to the evolution of special effects. I mean, when I was younger, T2 was a good movie with cool effects, for its time, but now I watch movies like Lord of the Rings (though not a summer movie) and I'm blown away. But effects don't always determine a movie's quality: The Hulk, while it had some cool effects, it was the worst comic book movie ever made. . .wait. . Howard the Duck was bad too. Anyways, I thought list some of my fav. summer movies:
Summer Movie of 1989: BatmanSummer
Movie of 1991: Terminator 2 ... the new and improved Terminator, was insane....and Linda Hamilton was ripped!
Summer Movie of 1993: Jurassic Park. . . wtf? What kind of idiots go to an island full of dinosaurs...hmm because that doesn't spell danger...hello?!?!!
Summer Movie of 1994: Forrest Gump...haha no major effects, except for editing in major figures in U.S. history....but you know, it was still a good film. Jenny!
Summer Movie of 1995: Golden Eye...Oh man, Pierce Brosnan as James Bond...ahhh hot! I have to say this is my favorite out of the Brosnan series. I meet Famke Jensen at work once, the bond girl/Jean Grey in X-Men...she's hot.
Summer Movie of 1996: Independence Day...this was Will Smith's launching pad to bigger movies; the movie was a little cheesy but the idea of aliens landing on earth was big...admit it.
Summer Movie 1999: The Matrix ....Hats off to the Wachowski Brothers; their sophomore movie was not a complete take off, but the buzz soon followed and in retrospect, it was the "it" movie of that year.
So, yah I guess that's it.
Question : If you all had to recall your favorite summer movie, what would it be? And while you're at it, what about your favorite song of the summer? |
