| | “First let’s remember that the base for our service structure rests on the dedication and ability of several thousand General Service Representatives (GSR’s), several hundred area Committee Members, and nearly a hundred Delegates. These are the indispensable linkage between our Fellowship and its world service; these are the primary representative of A.A.’s group conscience. Without their support and activity we could not operate permanently at all.” Twelve Concepts for World Service, Concept IX, copyright 1962, AAWS Inc. (Twelve Concepts)
The Hartford Group doesn’t have a GSR. A District Committee has formed in our Area 34 District 1 and it would be a good time to elect a GSR and send them to the monthly meetings. (I’m getting a cramp in my foot, It doesn’t really hurt, it feels – interesting.) The Hartford Group has always been willing to send money to the District and Area, that’s easy, finding someone to be GSR, that’s harder to do.
A good candidate for GSR would have at least a year of sobriety, attend group meetings religiously, have a sponsor, know the Traditions, actively contribute to meetings by sharing and chairing, help with the business of the group like unlocking the room, set-up, clean-up, and making coffee, locking up the room. The job requires attending out of town meetings, generally two Sundays a month. The candidate should have a dependable car, driver’s license and be prepared to absorb the majority of the expense required to attend meetings. District meetings are close by but last months Area Assembly is 349.3 miles away. They all aren't that far but the candidate should be willing and able to travel.

Right about now you're probably saying, "What an order, I can't go through with it!" |
