Man - it's been a long time since I had a drink. Would it surprise you I still think about having one from time to time? Those thoughts usually happen when I'm bored or when I'm feeling sorry for myself. Thank goodness I have the fellowship to energize my life and keep my thinking straight. When I am asked to chair our home group meeting I usually ask people to share if they've been thinking about drinking. I tell them I would like to know I'm not the only one who thinks about drinking. Without fail someone shares their experience in the past week. Length of sobriety doesn't seem to matter. If you're alcoholic, you have that strange mental twist, obsession with alcohol. It never entirely goes away. It's only with the help of the AA fellowship and my HP that I'm sober today.
