  • First Church of the Secularist

I had an idea today--- it was to start a new "Church" -- not to break away from the Catholic Church by any means, but to begin the key attack on secularism - and that is to make sure that all are aware that SECULARISM IS A RELIGION!!!  So, I thought we could open the First Church of the Secularist, or First Secularist Church, we would put signs up all over town with a phone number (and I guarantee many would call!).  The thing is, all you'd have to do is buy a building and put a sign on the front-- there would never need to be any services, the building would be open for people to come in and do whatever they please in there and that's it.  That's what secularism is, a nothingness and emptyness-- but it is a NOTHINGNESS that is being imposed on us in, of all places, the PUBLIC SPHERE.  So, those avowed "secularist" need a place to worship at the altar of nothingness--- they need their own Church building so that as the Court's review these absurd attacks on Religion in the public sphere, it is OBVIOUS that those attacking are zealots themselves for the Religion of Secularism.

How true indeed. Maybe on the inside could be dozens of secular "Bibles", thick books all filled with hundreds of blank pages!

But whilst secularism is most certainly a religion that lacks substance, it is not devoid of content or consequences:

"The coming of a world state is longed for, and confidently expected, by all the worst and most distorted elements. This state, based on the principles of absolute equality of men and a community of possessions, would banish all national loyalties. In it no acknowledgment would be made of the authority of a father over his children, or of God over human society. If these ideas are put into practice, there will inevitably follow a reign of unheard-of terror." - Pope Benedict XV

@MysteriumFidei - Wow - What a great quote.  Thanks for sharing that!

Great idea!  I'll help you fund the building.  In fact with the media attention it would garner, maybe, you probably could get enough funding to buy a building.

@bubbelcat - and I am only being half facetious about this...I didn't think about the fact that the media could pick up on it...

    Hahaha, great idea!

Have you ever seen "The Never ending Story"?  The "nothing" was destroying their world too...

Don't forget the TV sets - must keep the minds empty, lest they start to figure things out.
