My guests have now returned to Georgia.

I’ve washed up all the towels, have them folded and on the shelves, have washed and dried the sheets and remade the guest bed and I’m all ready for the next guests, whoever they may be.   I just pray the next ones won’t have to face such sadness while they’re here.

They left their hometown at 11:30 A.M., E.S.T, Thursday, in their own plane and started this way.  They had such a terrible head winds, that a trip which might normally, take 5 ½ to 6 hours turned into much more.  They’d also had to make some unplanned landings to refuel, because of the terrible wind. They finally arrived here at 9:30 that night C.S.T.  They'd called us each time they landed to re-fuel, so we were alerted that they were going to be later getting in.

Two other cousins and I had been waiting at our small local airport, since, a little after 6 P.M.   A small plane landed and we WAVED REAL BIG TO WELCOME THEM!!!  Wasn’t their plane!   That guy taxied on down the runway, then came half way back and put his plane in the hanger.  Bet that guy thought, “Boy, what a welcoming party!”   Well heck, we didn’t know what their plane looked like and it was dark. (however, we were standing in a well lighted area)   We waited quite a while longer and here comes another plane in.  We WAVED REAL BIG TO WELCOME THEM!!!   That one taxied about half way down the runway and lifted off again.  We decided they must not have gotten slowed down enough to stop at the end of the runway, so they were coming back around to try again.   We watched……..  and waited…….. but it never turned to come back.  We  waited longer.    Finally, here comes another plane in.   We WAVED REAL BIG TO WELCOME THEM!!!   That one WAS theirs.  THANK GOODNESS.  We three were about frozen!!

When we told them how we’d waved and welcomed the other two planes, they laughed.  They said they had heard them on their radio and knew what they were doing and had commented to each other that they would bet we thought it was them landing.  We did.

Friday morning, while they were eating breakfast, they discussed going up for a short ride, after going to the funeral home to finish up plans for her father’s funeral.  After they left here, they called back to me, and told me to meet them at the airport at 10.  Those of you who have been reading my site for a while, know what a chicken I am about flying.  But I DID IT!!!  The flight was AWSOME, and the view from up there was breath taking.  We flew over my place, our farms, my kid’s houses, the house where my cousin’s grandmother lived and etc.   Took LOTS of pictures.

Visitation was that night, and the funeral was Saturday, after which, we had a big pot- luck dinner at the community building.  Sunday, after seeing them off, since it was then too late to get to church, I came home and tidied up a bit and took a big nap.    So far, the coming week looks pretty normal.  I may try to mow today and chop up some of these leaves in the yard.  They’re outta control.

Take care,   Granny

Before you rake those leaves, I'd love to come over and run through them....

Living in Florida...no nice crispy sweet smelling dry leaves.  Why don't you just let nature take care of them and blow them away.  God put them there, he can provide a way for the breezes to come and blow them away....

Our neighbor had 2 large sycamore trees...here in Florida.  Unfortunately, they did shed and about this time of the year.  These are not pretty leaves!  Big ugly nuisance leaves.  We have new neighbors who cut down the trees.  We all rejoiced!

Have a great week!

Our leaves were amzingly easy this year.  After the earliest trees were done, we usually get leaves for a long time afterwards from all the other trees, but we had a big wind that stripped most of the leaves overnight, and by the time we could get to those, virtually all of the leaves were down.  That's a first!

RYC:  I will try to get a better picture.  I was looking at the picture, and I have to tell you that the back is straight across.  I noticed it almost looked like it was raised in the center due to the backrest I had in the middle, behind the pillows.  But we'll see!

I bet folks just think you have the friendliest airport around!  Always a welcoming party for all flights of the day!  LOL!

I bet that was really cool to see all your places from in the air.  Last year for Christmas, our cropduster went up and took a bunch of pictures for us of our hay for free!  It would usually cost a couple hundred, but they were so impressed with how much hay we had they wanted to see it and snapped a few pics.  And I think they were sorta thanking us for taking them camping with us Labor Day weekend.  We always get a big thing of pistacios for Christmas from them, too (hey, after the thousands we have to spend in cropdusting, I'm glad we get something back.  LOL!).

I wanna run thru your leaves, too!!  We don't have many trees here, the few we do have leaves have already blown away in the wind....At least I don't have to rake!

I have always heard country folk are the friendliest folks.  You were just out to prove the saying true at your local airport!!!   How fun to go up in the plane.

I have a secret plan to go sky-diving in the next 12 months.  My hubby has almost forbidden me to
sky-dive and my kids think that I am crazy.  So what better reasons to do it then those?????

If you get really tired of mowing at your place you can come here and mow.  It is just too hot for me to want to do anything.

Ah, the lovely fallen leaves!  We were going to sweep our lawn tomorrow, but now we have rain and snow in the forecast.  Bummer!  I'm still hoping for another "warm" spell so we can get that little chore done.  Congrats on going up in the plane!  Wasn't that rewarding?!

We have big fall leaves this year. I don't know why but they have decided to stay in our yard rather than keep blowing down the street!!  I guess the neighbors are trading with us.. Our tree always makes an abundance of big horrible dark beans and the Texas winds blow them into the neighboring yards.  The neighbor across the street was even blessed to get them this year when we had a very strong south wind.   I hate that tree and wish it was gone, but it is so large it will be an ordeal to remove it.

RYC: I really do want to spice up my site a bit, but I sure don't want to make it hard to get to, either.  Thanks for reminding me that I need to be careful to watch for layouts that are slow to download.  Whenever I do make changes, please let me know if one is bad for you.  I enjoy so many of you on Xanga, and want to keep you all in communication!

Thanks for visiting!  "Kaylu" is the pet name my maternal grandmother gave me when I was knee high to a grasshopper.  It kinda stuck until I became too big for my britches, then I thought my proper name, "Carol Ann", sounded more sophisticated.  Grams went to be with Jesus, January of 1986.  I'll have to wait until I get to heaven to hear her call me, "Kaylu", again.  Thanks for asking.

RYC:  Yep!  We went to Sikeston!  And they we caught rolls thrown at us and got extra stuff like fried potatoes and onions dished out from servers walking around the room.  Huge restuarant!  Lots of fun!
