I HAD A GREAT START AT CLEANING CLOSETS AND DRAWERS

But have had a bit of a “stop sign” pop up in the way.  My garage is overflowing with stuff I’ve tried to eliminate.   One full set plus 10 years of the update volumes of Encyclopedia Brittanica,  (sp. But if it's wrong, I’d have to go out in the garage to see how to spell it right) one full 20 volume set of encyclopedia about any and every kind of animal you might want to research, clothes, trinkets, towels, washcloths, purses, ………you name it, it’s probably out there, ready to haul off.  I also have a full set of gardening and plant encyclopedia I’m debating about getting rid of too.  Now that I can go to the computer for all that info, it doesn’t make much sense to keep it around and keep it dusted off.  I also have a Keystone 8 mm movie camera that we bought in the early 50s and another old 35 mm camera bought a bit earlier than that.  I called my friend, who is an antique dealer, and she told me to bring those two items to the shop, instead of giving it to Goodwill.

BUT THEN,…..  there came a phone call that another cousin had passed away, yesterday morning, so I stopped to make a huge pot of vegetable soup to take over there so they could have it for supper last night.  They had 6 kids, so with all the family coming in, they needed a BIG pot full.  I told them I was ready to help with anything else they needed…..just call.   Today, I got a phone call from the funeral director, asking me to play the organ at the funeral.   So this afternoon, I’ve been running over music and “touching it up”.   Don’t know what else they’ll need, so I’m just “hangin’ loose” till I find out.

Last Saturday, I finished up the farm books as far as I can until I’m ready to total up stuff for the accountant.  I’ll do that as soon as the bank statement comes, in a few more days.  I’m always more than glad to get that behind me. I  HATE MATH!!

I’ve bored you long enough, so I’m going in to rest a bit and try to find something on T.V.   Y’all take care and stay away from the flu bug!!!       Granny

Oh yeah....and P.S.   Mary, I read your post on my "read subscriptions" and tried to get into your site to look at pictures, but just couldn't get it open.  Thanks for stopping by to say "Hi."  I appreciate it.

You remind me of why I love the people here in Virginia.....if anyone needs helps the neighbor's from all over kin or non kin jump in to help out.  A funeral or sickness or someone just down on their luck these people are truly earth angel's.  I remember before I bought my house I was renting a house just above the one I bought later on didn't know anyone had not been there long my sister was killed in an accident the neighbor's from all over came by with food and non food item's and cards and words spoken from an understanding heart.  I had family everywhere even sleeping on the floor so their help was truly a blessing.  I have never forgotten their help and how much it helped me to be strong through the loss of my sister.  God Bless you.  I am sorry for your loss may God send comfort to their hearts and homes.

Sorry about your cousin.  I'm sure the music you play will be beautiful for it.

Oh, I hate Math, too.  Especially at tax time.  I'm always worried I've forgotten something important that the account needed, and that 10 years down the road I'll be audited and it will be found and I'll get fined!  LOL!

I have so many sets of encyclopedias that I've inherited from family members - nobody else could get rid of them either.  One set is pretty old, and the most recent dates from the 60's.  Hate to get rid of them, though.  It would be easier if I thought they could do some good to anyone, but I doubt it.

Isn't it something how the computer has taken the place of reading books?  I've also gotten rid of encyclopedias, the info on the 'puter is more current.  Same with some of my gardening books.  I've kept my favorites.  Now when it comes to some of my favorite authors, I keep their books.  I always read when I go to bed at night, but I don't see me lugging the 'puter up onto the bed any time soon. lol   Maybe you should just have a big garage sale this summer.

RYC:  I have also used the alarm button on my car keys to find my car.  One time I did that and it would not shut off.. when I got to the car a lady was getting out of her car next to mine.. she said "I did not hit your car, I promise."

Sorry to hear about your cousin.  Does your area have any adult education courses?  A lot of the time people in those classes don't have access to computers at home .. They might like to have the encycopedias..

I did well tonight.. I actually got rid of something.. My daughter was here and I gave her a coat out of my closet. It is one I had outgrown.. saved it just in case I lost weight.. I decided it would rot before I did that . LOL

John used to sell encyclopedias about 100 years ago.  They go out of date very quickly....

Good luck with the cleaning...It seems I have way way too much ...stuff!

Watch the hearings for Judge Alito...I can't believe those pompous windbags.!  Especially the murdering adulterous drug addicted blowhard from MA...Why do people vote for such a dumbhead!? He reads everything and doesn't even read it well!  I know that I said nice things about his brother but.(He was at least a likeable guy)...I'd better stop now.  Hope I don't offend you.  It's just so outrageous to me.

Strange, I made a pot of veggie/beef soup last night. Different reason though. May your cousin rest in peace.

Years ago I took our encyclopedia's to Half Price Books. Shoot they practically made me feel like we should be paying them to take them off our hands. Yet once some of those books end up for sale the price is not half.

From the sounds of some of the items--I would say you are getting into deep cleaning.  A few years ago we donated our encyclopedia set to TGson's third grade teacher to use in her classroom.  She was delighted.  The kids don't always have a school computer to use or have the time in the school library to look up "stuff", so now they are able to use the media in the classroom.  TGson has internet at home so can research anything without the use of encyclopedia.

RYC--regarding retirement-- W retired when he was 46 and for years he would tell people that he was retired and I would tell them  that I was  RE tired   My career was that of "Mom"/homemaker and all that went with that title.  Did work at JCP for 22 months.  Re the encyclopedia I bet the library doesn't even use them any more.

I'm afraid the print encyclopedia is a thing of the past. Too bad, because there's something wonderful about all those big, leather-bound volumes.
