I’M GIVING IT AWAY!!!!!

I’ve tried twice, to go through all this leftover fabric to make quilts.  My company came last Friday and we went through a BUNCH!!!  She took home a huge box full.  Today, I started to go through some more, thinking I’d keep some of the brighter stuff for a really colorful quilt.  After about forty-five minutes, I lost all interest.  I called a cousin, who quilts all the time, and she said she’d be here Saturday to go through it.  After that, I’ll call a nearby church, and if they don’t want it, it’s going to Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Last Friday’s company lives several miles from me, so she came prepared to spend the night.  We went through fabric, went out to eat, worked a jigsaw puzzle and went to bed about midnight.  I woke up about 3 A.M. and couldn’t go back to sleep.  A while later, I could hear her, in her room, coughing.  I could never go back to sleep.  Some time after 4:30, I thought I could smell bacon.  I got up and went to the kitchen.  I said, “I THOUGHT I smelled bacon.”   She said, “You’re too late.  Breakfast is already over.” I had a cup of coffee, and we visited for a while over the breakfast table.

About 6 A.M., we decided to start another puzzle…..a bunch of hot air balloons.  We got all the balloons put together, but not the background.  Time to go to lunch, …. at the little restaurant close by, where I eat many of my meals.  She then went on home, and I came back here.  Finally finished that darned puzzle yesterday afternoon.  I like to put them together, but feel it’s such a waste of time, because then you just turn around, tear them up and put them back in the box.

My neighbor has also been emptying closets.  Yesterday, she and I went to town and she took a bunch of stuff to Goodwill.  While there, we went shopping.  Just before Christmas, I had ordered two leather coats, returning each of them.  Yesterday, of all places, I found one… JUST WHAT I’D BEEN LOOKING FOR AT GOODWILL!!!  It was on the better rack, and can’t tell it from brand new.  Best of all, it only cost a third of the price of the others I sent back!!  I’m wondering if the original owner even wore it.

Today, I got in touch with the folks in Phoenix and told them I’ll be driving out.  There are two families and I told them to get together and tell me when is the best time for them.  I’m thinking, while I’m that direction, I’ll head down into Texas to see some other friends.  Most likely, sometime after March 1st.    So now, I HAVE  to finish cleaning up and getting rid of this closet mess.

Bedtime for old ladies.  See ya next time.   Granny

Wow, what a bargain on the coat!

Some people glue the puzzles and hang them up!  My Mom used to adore jigsaw puzzles and was wonderful at doing them. I have some here I've never even opened!  It always take me so long that I get antsy about having them spread all over my table.

I really need to go thru closets and rid us of things no longer wanted or needed.  We have given things a lot over the years and its time to do it again.

I noticed your comment at riddigers and thought I would invite you to my senior ring.  It is a super group of people who you would enjoy I believe.  If you are interested, follow the link to check it out.

I used to like putting puzzles together, it's so relaxing.  But, like you, I hated to  have to tear it up and put it back in the box.  Sounds like you're getting your spring house cleaning done.  If  only I had some of your energy!  Mom's back at the nursing home and doing much better, thanks for your kind comments.

Coming to TX? As far as San Antonio?  That's where I am.

If I keep reading you I will have to tackle the box of paper clippings I have. In fact I may as well clear out the Joy Can's as I haven't been in them in a year so I must not need to re read the cartoons and such in there. (I even have a can with all the clips on 911, why do I hang on?)

Old Ladies????  Of whom are you speaking...??

As for your comment about puzzles being a waste of time because you have to do it all over again...The same is true of housework...I just washed my floors this morning.  Don't want to see them dirty for awhile anyway.  Best way to keep the kitchen floor clean is to stay out of the kitchen!(no cooking)

Sounds like you and your friend had a great time. I love putting the puzzles together but some of the newer ones have such small pieces I cant see them so I make sure they say "large pieces". I'm trying to get rid of some of my things--its so hard--I keep thinking Im going to use that stuff one of these days. I will use you as my example and get busy !!
