WHERE DO I START!?!?

These past two weeks have been SO FULL!!

I guess I'll start with two weeks ago today.  We have a good family friend, Bill, 80 years old, who helps put in our crops and then helps during harvest.  When he's not actually working, he's out here anyway, just to hang around and be with Dale.   We kiddingly call him "The Boss".

Each winter, right after Christmas, he leaves for several weeks, goes to Texas, Vegas, California.........   So, two weeks ago, today, he left on his trip.  His brother's place is right across the street from his.  On Monday, after Bill left, the paper girl noticed that his brother's papers were piling up.  She mentioned it to another of their neighbors, and she said, "Well, ya' know, come to think of it, I haven't seen his shades open for a few days either."  They called around to see if he'd been to his favorite 'hang-out' in T-Town.   Nope, hadn't been there either.  They then, called my son, and the local police, and they went down to check.  Sure enough, he had died in the bathroom, and had probably been gone by the time Bill left on his trip.

Bill, and the friends he'd gone to visit in Vegas, drove back.  His brother's funeral was last Friday. We fixed the after-funeral meal at the local American Legion.

After taking care of what needed to be done immediately, Bill and his friends left, for their return trip, this past Tuesday.

On Saturday, we were invited to a wedding.  The wedding was about 10 miles away, but the reception was over an hour away.  By the time we came home, I was exhausted!!

Probably, with being on my feet most of the day on Friday, then sitting on a folding chair for two to three hours at the reception, my back had had all it could take.   I didn't even attempt to go to church Sunday morning.

Monday was my water therapy (as is tomorrow morning).   On the way home, I got the 'stuff' at the phone office to hook up my DSL.   Picked up some groceries for SouthForkCheerMom and myself, and got 'chewed out' by her, for carrying hers in.  The wind was blowing TERRIBLY COLD from the west.  So I drove around to the back of her house and went in the back door on the east, so it wouldn't cool off the house so terribly.  She'd wanted to come out to the car and get them, but she had NO BUSINESS in that cold, OR carrying the groceries.

Yesterday, they hooked up the DSL on this computer.  Much nicer than the dial-up.  I gave this desk a good cleaning, inside and out, and today, when Sue was here, she helped me finish the rest of the house.  I even went downstairs and packed away all the Christmas decorations, and stored them back on the shelves.

Tomorrow, after therapy, I'm going by Kroger's and get some of those chickens they cook on the rotisserie, pick up some slaw from Kentucky Fried Chicken, and bring it home for SFCM and me.  I've been hungry for that kind of chicken.

Plans for the next two weeks:
1...Monday & Fridays, Therapy

2.....Tuesday Perm

3.....Then begin to work and catch up on about 3 years of photos, news clippings, and etc., getting the Memory Books caught up.

4....Get started putting the flowers on grave stone Saddles for spring.  I always wait till the last minute and have to cram it into my schedule while trying to get ready for the pond party the end of May.  This year, I hope to have it done ahead of time.

5....Next Thursday...Cousin's day with Dorothy and Viv.
           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been invited to a shindig in Wisconsin the first of June.  Sure wanta try to go to that!!
O.K.   I still have Molly, the neighbor's dog, and she's begging to go out.  She knows this is the last time of the evening, and then she gets a treat thrown into her pet taxi.  Starts getting dark,,,,,,,,,Molly starts begging to go to bed!!  Catch you next time.    Granny
I was going to bed and now I know I'm going. I'm worn out after reading all you are doing, have done and are planning to do.
Sorry to hear about your neighbor's brother dying like that but glad to see someone noticed.  Here you can have someone call a senior to check in on them while you are gone or just if they are forgetful someone can call to be sure things are okay.
You are definitely more organized than I am!! You are right about bringing the groceries in yourself.  She does not need to risk pulling those stitches.  Kroger's chickens are good but I like Wal-Mart's too!! I have thought about buying one of those rotisseries for the kitchen but I will have to see how much cabinet space it will take up and I don't have much room in my kitchen.
Have a good night Granny and keep warm!!
I am sorry to hear about your neighbor's passing. It's good though that someone noticed. You are on very busy lady!! :)
ryc: Thanks, I think our medical/insurance system stinks. I couldn't believe that they didn't want hubby to have the PET scan. It really upset me.
It sounds like you have a good and full life that you fully live.  Nothing slows you down much.  You are a prime example of life being what you make it.  Many complain but take no action.
Sorry about your neighbor's loss.  It's nice that he had the community to gather around and help.
Oh, I guess I have DSL too.  Isn't that the same as Charter cable?  It runs my computer, telephone and TV and is very fast.  I know that years ago I had dial up and it was soooo slow.
Take care and God bless.
