| | DOCTORS DOCTORS DOCTORS Went to the arthritis doctor yesterday, for a checkup. Had to be there at 9:15. Got in right away....that's unusual....and thought to myself, "I'll be out of here in jig time this time." WRONG! I got into the room right away but would have had time to read three magazines, had there been one in there, before the doc came in!!! Anyway, he checked me over and asked me if there was anything new he should know about. "Well, yes.....this left shoulder is keeping me awake at night and is of no use to me and hurts like heck in the daytime." "O.K. Lets get an x-ray of that. And while you're in the other part of the building, go get a blood test too." Had to wait forever in both places. Went back to his office, and he gave me a novocain/cortisone shot in my shoulder joint and said I had a spur and rotor cuff deterioration. I would have bet the farm on that!!! He's ordered another 6 to 8 weeks of therapy. I wouldn't mind getting into the water...it's usually really nice once I get used to it.....if I didn't have to go out into the cold to get there and come back home. Anyway, today, I feel as if I have a new shoulder. The shot really helped. Today, I went to see the knee surgeon for a 6 month checkup. That was a wasted trip. It was fine, and I already knew it. I asked him, if for that reason, was it free today? He just grinned. Guess not. So.........Yesterday, while I was still in S-town, I called Julie at work and asked her if she wanted to go to lunch with me. She did, and while we were eating, Dale's landlady called and wanted to know how the roads were. I told her there were slick spots, and if she needed to go somewhere I'd take her. So, I came on back this direction, and picked her up, and we went to T-town (the opposite direction) to lay in stuff for her, in case we get this snowstorm. (and it's comin' down pretty good right now.....great big flakes!!) I needed to go to the bank too, and it's in that town. On the way home from her house, I stopped by SouthForkCheerMom's and she was makin' chili. Smelt SOOOO good. (o; Well, so I just had me a bowl. Got me in the mood to make a batch and put it in the freezer for quick meals. So, today, on the way home from the Dr., I stopped by the store and picked up what I needed to make it. Also picked up some chicken thighs to boil and pick off the bone and put small packs of that in the freezer for quick things.....broth portions too. I get home, got the chili on to cook, and put the thighs in the water and turned the stove on high to get them to start cooking quicker. Door bell rang. Sofa delivery men here. I went to hold the door open so they could get the couch in, and smelled an awful smell. Have you ever boiled over chicken broth in your stove burner? The guy told me it sure smelled good in my house. OHMYLORD!!!! If that smelled good to him, I just wonder what HIS wife's cookin' smells like. (o; I have a feeling he was referring to the chili. Now THAT did smell perty good, but oh that burned chicken broth!!! Had to clean the whole @#$%^ stove because it splattered EVERYWHERE!!! O.K. So I like the sofa better here than I did in the store. That's a good thing. I think by now, the chicken has cooled enough I can go pick it off the bones and put in bags for the freezer. Tomorrow is water therapy day again, but I've already called the hospital, to say if it snows and drifts, I can't get there. Can't get out if it drifts, and if the snowplow man goes by so I CAN get out, if it blows while I'm gone, I can't get back in. Might just be a good day to stay home and catch up on some of your xanga blogs......or finish up the taxes and bookwork to get it ready for the accountant. Granny |
