DOCTORS DOCTORS DOCTORS

Went to the arthritis doctor yesterday, for a checkup.  Had to be there at 9:15.  Got in right away....that's unusual....and thought to myself, "I'll be out of here in jig time this time."    WRONG!  I got into the room right away but would have had time to read three magazines, had there been one in there, before the doc came in!!!   Anyway, he checked me over and asked me if there was anything new he should know about.
"Well, yes.....this left shoulder is keeping me awake at night and is of no use to me and hurts like heck in the daytime."
"O.K.  Lets get an x-ray of that.  And while you're in the other part of the building, go get a blood test too."
Had to wait forever in both places.  Went back to his office, and he gave me a novocain/cortisone shot in my shoulder joint and said I had a spur and rotor cuff deterioration.   I would have bet the farm on that!!!  He's ordered another 6 to 8 weeks of therapy.  I wouldn't mind getting into the water...it's usually really nice once I get used to it.....if I didn't have to go out into the cold to get there and come back home.        Anyway, today, I feel as if I have a new shoulder.  The shot really helped.

Today, I went to see the knee surgeon for a 6 month checkup.  That was a wasted trip.  It was fine, and I already knew it.  I asked him, if for that reason, was it free today?   He just grinned.   Guess not.

So.........Yesterday, while I was still in S-town, I called Julie at work and asked her if she wanted to go to lunch with me.  She did, and while we were eating, Dale's landlady called and wanted to know how the roads were.  I told her there were slick spots, and if she needed to go somewhere I'd take her.  So, I came on back this direction, and picked her up, and we went to T-town (the opposite direction) to lay in stuff for her, in case we get this snowstorm.  (and it's comin' down pretty good right now.....great big flakes!!)  I needed to go to the bank too, and it's in that town.

On the way home from her house, I stopped by SouthForkCheerMom's and she was makin' chili.        Smelt SOOOO good.  (o;        Well, so I just had me a bowl.  Got me in the mood to make a batch and put it in the freezer for quick meals.   So, today, on the way home from the Dr., I stopped by the store and picked up what I needed to make it.   Also picked up some chicken thighs to boil and pick off the bone and put small packs of that in the freezer for quick things.....broth portions too.

I get home, got the chili on to cook, and put the thighs in the water and turned the stove on high to get them to start cooking quicker.    Door bell rang.   Sofa delivery men here.  I went to hold the door open so they could get the couch in, and smelled an awful smell.  Have you ever boiled over chicken broth in your stove burner?  The guy told me it sure smelled good in my house.  OHMYLORD!!!!   If that smelled good to him, I just wonder what HIS wife's cookin' smells like.   (o;     I have a feeling he was referring to the chili.  Now THAT did smell perty good, but oh that burned chicken broth!!!  Had to clean the whole @#$%^ stove because it splattered EVERYWHERE!!!

O.K.  So I like the sofa better here than I did in the store.  That's a good thing.

I think by now, the chicken has cooled enough I can go pick it off the bones and put in bags for the freezer.

Tomorrow is water therapy day again, but I've already called the hospital, to say if it snows and drifts, I can't get there.   Can't get out if it drifts, and if the snowplow man goes by so I CAN get out, if it blows while I'm gone, I can't get back in.   Might just be a good day to stay home and catch up on some of your xanga blogs......or finish up the taxes and bookwork to get it ready for the accountant.          Granny

I has stew cooking in my slow cooker all day, and it sure smells good...guess it's time to go make some sweet cornbread & dig into that stew so I can warm myself up!!

Good news and not so good news from the Drs..  I hate getting old.  I hate going to the Drs., too, because I never know what she is going to find next!!

Chili sounds good.  Actually, anything sounds good.  Am trying so hard to try to lose even a few pounds.

Glad you liked your sofa.  When I bought mine, I was worried about the same thing---that I would not like it when it got into my house.

Now I want to go and cook some chili.

My grandma had to have the cortisone shots in her hip, and my dad in his knee. It really seemed to help both of them...I hope your shoulder continues to feel better.

We must be on the same wave length...my hubby made an enormous pot of chili last night for dinner..it was YUMMY!!! I may just fix up a container of it to take to work for lunch today...a couple of crackers to go with it and I am set!!!
We dodged the snow bullet...it all stayed south of us....we got a bit of a dusting yesterday morning but that was it.
I dont know about you but I am ready for Spring!!!
Have a great weekend!!

You sound like me, putting something on the stove and getting distracted!

Was that a knee replacement? I had one on Dec. 27 of 2006 and boy! did it make a difference in my life!

I need to check the ice here - I am supposed to work but we'll see...

Yuck, burned broth!  Messy!  Of course, one time I spilled an entire huge pot of broth all over the floor.  Now THAT was a mess to clean up, too!

Glad your shoulder is feeling better.  Those shots don't always work so well, I hear.

I am so disappointed, our big snowstorm fizzled out.  I was excited about being snowed in!  It is snowing some more right now but not too much expected.   Glad you like your sofa.  Last sofa we got I was so afraid I would hate it when it got here!  But it looked great and I still love it a few years later.  Have a great weekend Granny!

I agree with you a boiled over pot stinks!! It seems like the second you take your eye off it, bingo!!

Had chuckle about your knee checkup!! I usually buy chicken thighs and roast a big foil pan of them and then divide into meals and freeze to later heat up in the microwave.  The snow skipped us last night but now we had a snow shower.  Glad your shoulder is better.

Enjoy breaking that new couch Granny!

I saw your comment on RETIREDMATILDA's site, so I decided to visit you. I enjoyed your post and had to laugh with you about the doctor's visit. I've had both knees replaced - two years ago  - one in September and the other the following May. I hope you do as well as I did. I agree with RETIREDMATILDA - it sure made a big difference. I always wondered why, after paying a fortune for the surgery itself, we still had to pay for office visits so the dr. could tell us that everything looked fine!  They get us coming and going, don't they?

Sounds like most of the news today was good...Chili sounds so good!
Here we have long hours of waiting time in order to see the doctor. We could sure
use a few more good ones but anyone with that much education isn't wanting to live in the rain forest. LOL
