SHIT!

My laptop crapped out on me last night.  Windows XP won't start up.  I have my resume, school papers, recommendations and pictures on that laptop b/c I was "temporarily" storing them while I was using my removable flash drive.  It's ONE week old today, folks.  Some help desk in Europe couldn't help me, so I have to call Toshiba today to see about fixing it or getting a new one.  But what I really need is to restore it enough to grab my documents!!!   I'm gonna go cry now...


Edited to explain a little:

Some random windows started not responding on me, so I went to the task manager to check on things and nothing would end now.  THEN, the freaking task manager was not responding!!!!    I've NEVER had that happen before.  So I walked away from it, but nothing was working after a while.  So I hit the power button and let it cool off, then I powered it up.  That's when the Windows XP screen pops up and then it goes black with a little cursor... that's it.  I tried Safe Mode, but that stalls also.  GOD, I'm so pissed!

Wow.  That is aweful.  Hopefully someone will be able to help you.  I can't believe it is not working after only a week.  That would make me cry.

i've had so many problems with Windows too. the good thing is that I've had a similar problem before and i was able to recover everything. i dont' think you need a new machine, you just have to repair your Windows. there should be someone at Toshiba to help you with that, and if not them, Microsoft has a help-desk center you can call as well.
