I run into people from time to time who seem to have no self respect for various aspects of their lives (body, mind, spirit, emotions). "Mr. Contract Guy" from my previous post and a friend who jumped into and remains in an abusive marriage because he can't bear to be alone are a couple of recent inspirations.
Rather than give examples of where I feel I've seen people demonstrate a lack of self respect, I'd be curious to read some of your thoughts. I'm sure you're all familiar with the phrase "Love is ...." What can you come up with for
Self respect is ....

I think the best way I would put it, would be...self respect is being centered in the truth of who you are.
Self respect means never settling for less than the best. Knowing what is best is the first goal of self respect.

Self respect is loving and honoring oneself in humility so in turn we can love and respect others.
Self respect is knowing exactly who and what you are, and being perfectly ok with it.
Self respect is knowing who's "Temple" you are and Whom is living there, in it with you... and treating yourself accordingly.
Self respect is... living as we were made, how we were made, for Who were were made for...?
I don't claim to have it right, though. How can I say I know what it is when I can barely even practice it? You can't *really* know what you haven't experienced/struggled though yourself.
God bless,
