The gals made it safely to the airport for their "I see England, I see France" tour. They should be in Europe around 11:00 London time, tomorrow.
As for me, I have a project in front of me ... a serious project, indeed! I will be replacing the cracked tub/shower in our bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower. I've never taken on any home project of quite this magnitude before, so it should be interesting. I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress through next week.
Just finished "Stranger in a Strange Land" by Robert Heinlein. Each year I try to read a few pieces of classic fiction. This one is from the Sci-fi genre. I used to enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy a lot. The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Dune books, Lucifer's Hammer, The Inferno and of course, Lord of the Rings are all favorites.
This one ... I threw straight into the recycling bin. Ugh. I only bothered to finish it so I could say "Bought it, read it, tossed it." It was one of those books that I could see "why" it is considered a classic, but the storyline made me want to hurl.
So ... I'll have to make a point that the next one I read is one I'm more likely to enjoy.
Well .. guess I'd better finish cleaning the house and get ready for bed.
Blessings to you all!

May I ask...if the cost was expensive for Melinda and Krysten to go to Europe?? Always wanted to go, but thought it would be too expensive?
Robert Heinlein is one of my favorite authors! Pity you did not take to
the book, he has many others that are even better. I used to read
science fiction avidly in my 20s but seem to have drifted onto other
things now.
We're getting ready to welcome your girls, am just
about to start cooking Sunday Lunch, its 6.30 a.m. here. We're really
looking forward to having them stay, and hope they are not disappointed
by England!!
I like your goal of reading classic sci-fi. I read the Thomas Covenant series years ago and had the same response as you did to Heinlein -- what a waste of time. Great writing; totally depressing world-view. My son, an English major at Penn State, is the one who challenges me to read things now. He reads so widely and deeply, it makes my head spin. So I gave him something to lighten him up a bit: WWZ -- a book about World War Z, an account of a future war with zombies! He's back from college and reading it now. Loves it. But then, my gift came back to haunt me in that he was reading aloud from it to me last night and so my dreams were filled with zombies. Ha, ha! Serves me right!
God be with you on your project! You're braver than I am!
@KateeLee1 - Your list is the same as mine!
HUZZAH!! LOTR!!!!
I expect you all to read my novels...once they're published... >_>
